Astros OF Jake Marisnick returns to lineup Sunday

(10:56 am ET) Astros outfielder Jake Marisnick was back in the lineup for Sunday's game at Boston, the team announced. He will bat ninth and play center field. 

Marisnick had been on the disabled list since June 18 after sustaining a hamstring injury. He is hitting .245 with five home runs and 20 RBI in 62 games this season.

The Astros are the underdogs (+110) at Boston on Sunday.


Padres' Will Middlebrooks not in Sunday's lineup

(10:52 am ET) The Padres held third baseman Will Middlebrooks out of Sunday's lineup against the Cardinals, the team announced.

Middlebrooks has been dealing with a sprained right ankle. He was replaced at third by Yangervis Solarte, who will bat second.

The Padres are the underdogs at St. Louis on Sunday.


Brewers CF Carlos Gomez not in Sunday's lineup

(10:45 am ET) Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez was held out of Sunday's starting lineup at Cincinnati, the team announced.

Gomez left Saturday's game after being hit by a pitch on his wrist. X-rays on the wrist were negative. He was replaced in center by Gerardo Parra, who will bat first. Over his last nine games, Gomez is hitting .237 with one home run and six RBI.

The Brewers are the underdogs (+112) at Cincinnati on Sunday.


Red Sox start David Ortiz at first base Sunday

(10:39 am ET) Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz will receive a rare start at first base during Sunday's game against the Astros, reports NESN.

Ortiz will play first base and bat fourth during Sunday's contest. Over his last 12 games, Ortiz is hitting .200 with four home runs and 10 RBI.

The Red Sox are favored (-110) over the Astros on Sunday.


Indians shut down pitcher T.J. House

(9:59 am ET) Indians pitcher T.J. House has been shut down in order to rest his ailing left shoulder, reports Cleveland.com.

House will rest for two weeks before resuming his throwing program. House is at Triple-A and has been dealing with a shoulder injury.


Indians hope Josh Tomlin can begin rehab assignment soon

(9:54 am ET) Indians manager Terry Francona said pitcher Josh Tomlin could begin his rehab assignment pretty soon, reports Cleveland.com.

Tomlin has been sidelined for the entire season after undergoing shoulder surgery.


Indians' Nick Swisher nearing rehab assignment

(9:47 am ET) Indians designated hitter Nick Swisher was able to do some running prior to Saturday's game and the team is targeting a rehab assignment after the All-Star break, reports Cleveland.com.

Swisher is dealing with left knee inflammation, which has kept him out since June 14.


Angels pitcher Jered Weaver feels good after bullpen session

(9:39 am ET) Angels pitcher Jered Weaver said he felt fine after completing his third bullpen session since suffering a hip injury, reports MLB.com.

"He won't be ready before the break," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "Should be ready after."

Weaver has been sidelined since June 21 with left-hip inflammation.


Rockies 2B DJ LeMahieu breaks loose with three-hit game

(1:55 am ET) So much for the slump plaguing Rockies second baseman DJ LeMahieu. He ended that in style Saturday night with three hits in a loss to Arizona.

LeMahieu ripped three singles, including one that tallied a run in the third inning. He also scored a run and raised his average back to .300 in breaking a 3-for-30 slide.


Diamondbacks CF A.J. Pollock has strong effort Saturday

(1:52 am ET) Diamondbacks leadoff hitter A.J. Pollock did a nice job setting the table Saturday and allowed his team to feast on the Rockies.

Pollock slammed a double and single, drove in two runs and scored another. His double plated a pair in the fourth inning.

The center fielder now boasts a solid slash line of .304/.348/.465. He has nine hits in his last 19 at-bats.
