Athletics' Sonny Gray wins sixth game of year

(1:21 am ET) Athletics starter Sonny Gray moved to 6-2 with a win over the Yankees on Friday. 

Gray allowed two runs over eight innings. He gave up four hits, including a home run. 

Gray walked two and struck out five. His next start is scheduled for Thursday, at Detroit. 


Rajai Davis steals twelfth base for Tigers

(1:16 am ET) Tigers center fielder Rajai Davis went 1 for 3 with a walk in Friday's loss to the Angels. 

Davis stole his twelfth base of the year. He was also caught stealing for the third time this season. 


Albert Pujols homers in three-hit night for Angels

(1:14 am ET) Angels first baseman Albert Pujols paced the offense in Friday's win over Detroit. Pujols went 3 for 4 and hit a solo home run in the sixth. 

Pujols scored twice, recorded his tenth homer and drove in his 20th run. 


Braves RP Jim Johnson gives up two costly runs in Friday's loss

(1:14 am ET) Braves reliever Jim Johnson had a rough eighth inning in Friday's loss to the Giants. Johnson, who came into the game with the Giants up 2-1, proceeded to give up two more runs, as the Giants won 4-2.

Though he wasn't given a loss or a blown save, Johnson's poor performance could have prevented the Braves from a comeback. Had the Giants not scored in the eighth, Freddie Freeman's ninth-inning home run would have tied the game up at two. 

In that eighth inning, Johnson gave up two hits and two runs. He walked two and hit a batter, as his ERA rose to 3.09. The outing put an end to his nine-game scoreless streak. 


Anibal Sanchez suffers hard-luck loss for Tigers

(1:13 am ET) Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez allowed just two runs in seven innings, but he suffered the loss to the Angels on Friday, as the Tigers were shut out. 

Sanchez dropped to 3-6. He allowed six hits, walked two and struck out nine. He allowed a home run. 

Sanchez's next start is Thursday, against Oakland. 


Huston Street earns four-out save for Angels

(1:10 am ET) Huston Street recorded his 15th save of the season for the Angels in Friday's win over Detroit.

Street entered with the bases loaded in the eighth inning and protected a two-run lead, as he recorded a four-out save. 

Street didn't allow a baserunner and struck out two. 


Hector Santiago moves to 4-3 with win for Angels

(1:09 am ET) Angels starter Hector Santiago moved to 4-3 on the season with a win over Detroit on Friday. 

Santiago went 7 1/3 shutout innings, allowing just three hits. He walked three and struck out seven. 

Santiago's next start is Wednesday, against Tampa Bay. 


Braves 1B Freddie Freeman hits solo home run on Friday

(1:09 am ET) Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman hit his first home run in nearly a month in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Giants. Freeman came up in the top of the ninth with his team down by three. He proceeded to take closer Santiago Casilla deep for a solo home run, his sixth of the season. But it wasn't enough as the Giants were able to hold on for the victory.

The home run was Freeman's only hit of the game, and he has now collected just eight hits in 36 at-bats over his last 10 games. 


Chris Colabello homers in Blue Jays' win

(1:06 am ET) Blue Jays left fielder Chris Colabello hit a game-winning home run in Friday's win over Minnesota. 

Colabello hit a two-run shot in the top of the ninth to break a 4-4 tie. He went 1 for 4 on the night and hit his fourth home run. He now has 14 RBI. 


Josh Donaldson homers, drives in three for Blue Jays

(1:05 am ET) Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson hit a three run home run to help lead Toronto to a win over Minnesota on Friday. 

Donaldson went 2 for 5. The homer was his 14th of the year and brought him to 38 RBI.
