A's RF Josh Reddick good to go for Wednesday vs. Rockies

(11:38 am ET) Athletics right fielder Josh Reddick is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's clash with the Rockies. Reddick was held out of Tuesday's game with general soreness, but it was never expected to keep him out for very long.

He is in right field and batting fourth on Wednesday. 


Blue Jays planning to keep Dalton Pompey at Double-A for now

(11:36 am ET) Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey continues to have great success at Double-A New Hampshire, batting .372 with a .641 slugging percentage and 1.066 OPS in 19 games since his demotion from Triple-A Buffalo.

Toronto general manager Alex Anthopoulos said the plan for now is to keep Pompey at Double-A ,and added Pompey could be promoted back to the major-league roster from New Hampshire without having to go to Buffalo.


Blue Jays GM: Miguel Castro will continue to pitch in relief

(11:35 am ET) Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said right-hander Miguel Castro should be heading to Double-A New Hampshire shortly. Castro has been nursing a thumb injury while working in Class A Dunedin.

The 20-year-old Castro made the Blue Jays out of spring training, but was sent back down to the minors after experiencing some struggles. He posted a 4.38 ERA in 13 relief appearances before his demotion in early May.

Anthopoulos says the team intends to keep Castro in the bullpen, with the hopes of being able to fill the bullpen needs internally.

"It would be a huge add for us if we can get him back", Anthopoulos said, per SportsNet.


Blue Jays remove Steve Tolleson from roster after DL activation

(11:32 am ET) Blue Jays infielder Steve Tolleson (groin) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Wednesday. Unfortunately, he was designated for assignment after being activated.

Blue Jays SP Daniel Norris might make spot start before break

(11:28 am ET) Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos told reporters he will be in attendance for Daniel Norris' start for Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday. He added Norris could put himself back on the radar with a third straight solid outing and suggested Norris might make a spot start before the All-Star break.

Norris is 1-7 with a 3.72 ERA in 10 starts for Buffalo following his demotion after five April starts with Toronto. He has struck out 16 batters in his last 11 1/3 innings.


Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) to take BP on Thursday

(11:24 am ET) Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia is progressing in his recovery from a strained hamstring. Pedroia, who has been on the disabled list since June 25, is expected to take batting practice for the first time on Thursday, according to The Boston Globe

The next steps in Pedroia's recovery are not currently known, and it is not clear if he will need a rehab assignment before returning to the lineup. 


Red Sox's Ryan Hanigan's activation from DL will be delayed a day

(11:16 am ET) Red Sox catcher Ryan Hanigan (hand) won't be activated off the disabled list Wednesday as originally expected after his flight to Toronto was delayed, according to The Providence Journal. He is now expected to be activated Thursday.

D-Backs' De La Rosa developing good rapport with Castillo

(11:10 am ET) Diamondbacks starting pitcher Rubby De La Rosa continued to a stretch of strong starts Tuesday against the Dodgers, striking out seven in 5 2/3 innings. He is 2-0 with a 1.30 ERA in his last four starts.

De La Rosa's surge has coincided with the acquisition of catcher Welington Castillo. The duo grew up playing baseball together in the Dominican Republic. De La Rosa has a 3.58 ERA in five starts with Castillo behind the plate.

"He's good behind home plate," De La Rosa said, per The Arizona Republic. "He makes me a little bit more confident. For me it's really good."

Although, Castillo doesn't want to take any credit for De La Rosa's success.

"I think my job is to help him however I can," Castillo said. "He's got really good stuff. All I'm trying to do is get him on the same page and get him believing in his stuff."


Twins OF Shane Robinson ready to roll on Wednesday

(11:09 am ET) Twins outfielder Shane Robinson is in the lineup for Wedenesday's contest against the Reds. Robinson, who is batting ninth while starting in left field, was unavailable for Tuesday's game due to an illness.

But he informed the trainers that he was good to go for Wednesday, and he is indeed back in there for the afternoon game.


Red Sox OF Daniel Nava to begin rehab assignment Thursday

(11:07 am ET) Red Sox outfielder Daniel Nava, on the disabled list with a sprained thumb, is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A on Thursday, the Boston Herald reports. 

Nava has been on the DL since the end of May with the injury. He was 10 for 63 in 27 games prior to his injury.
