Rockies' Nick Hundley, DJ LeMahieu out of lineup Sunday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:42 pm ET) Rockies catcher Nick Hundley and second baseman DJ LeMahieu are not in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Hundley has started four of the team's last five games but will get a breather Sunday. LeMahieu is out of the starting lineup for the first time this season. The Rockies will bat catcher Michael McKenry seventh and second baseman Daniel Descalso eighth against the Dodgers.

The Rockies are underdogs (+150) in Los Angeles Sunday.

Cubs add Germen, option Szczur, transfer Turner to 60-day DL
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:27 pm ET) The Cubs selected the contract of pitcher Gonzalez Germen and optioned outfielder Matt Szczur to Triple-A Iowa Sunday.

Germen made 25 appearances with the Cubs last season, posting a 4.75 ERA and 31:14 K:BB ratio in 30 1/3 innings. He tossed 4 2/3 hitless innings in Triple-A before being brought up but issued three walks while striking out five.

Szczur went 2 for 10 with three walks and two stolen bases before being optioned.

To clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Germen, the Cubs also transferred pitcher Jacob Turner to the 60-day disabled list. He's recovering from a flexor strain and bone bruise in his elbow.

Diamondbacks' Jake Lamb, Tuffy Gosewisch out of lineup Sunday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:11 pm ET) Diamondbacks third baseman Jake Lamb and catcher Tuffy Gosewisch are not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Lamb batted second Saturday for the first time this season but is out of the lineup Sunday for just the second time in his last eight games. Gosewisch started eight of the last nine games behind the plate. With both players on the bench, the Diamondbacks will bat third baseman Aaron Hill fifth and catcher Jordan Pacheco sixth.

The Diamondbacks are underdogs (+125) in San Francisco Sunday.

Giants' Brandon Belt starting in left field Sunday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:07 pm ET) Giants first baseman Brandon Belt is starting in left field in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Belt has spent all but one inning at first base since the start of the 2013 season, with his only non-1B appearance coming last year, when he played one inning in right field in a game. The position isn't completely foreign to the infielder, as he made 30 starts in 2011 and four starts in 2012 in left field.

The alignment allows manager Bruce Bochy to start Buster Posey and first base and insert Andrew Susac at catcher. With Belt in the outfield, Gregor Blanco is not in the starting lineup.

The Giants are favorites (-135) against the Diamondbacks Sunday.

Mets' Terry Collins: David Wright 'coming along great'
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:02 pm ET) Mets manager Terry Collins said Sunday that third baseman David Wright is "coming along great" in his recovery from a right hamstring strain, ESPN New York reports.

"He's coming along great," Collins said Sunday. "He's going to do some activity today. ... He's going to hopefully get in the weight room and do some stuff."

Wright was placed on the disabled list Wednesday, and while the Mets are hopeful he'll be out the minimum 15 days, general manager Sandy Alderson suggested three weeks is a more realistic timetable.

Dodgers' Puig, Crawford, Grandal, Uribe out of lineup Sunday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:52 pm ET) Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig, left fielder Carl Crawford, catcher Yasmani Grandal and third baseman Juan Uribe are not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Rockies.

Puig was able to return from a tight hamstring Saturday and go 2 for 3 with a walk, but manager Don Mattingly said that the outfielder had a noticeable limp while playing nine innings. Crawford is out of the lineup for the second straight day due to illness. Uribe and Grandal are sitting for the first time in four games.

With several starters sidelined, Justin Turner will bat second and play third base, Andre Ethier will bat fifth and start in right field, Scott Van Slyke will start in left field and bat sixth and A.J. Ellis will start behind the plate and bat eighth against Rockies right-hander Eddie Butler.

Despite the multiple absences, the Dodgers are heavy favorites (-165) Sunday.

Brandon Workman still 2-3 weeks away from throwing for Red Sox
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(12:51 pm ET) Brandon Workman is still two-to-three weeks away from starting a throwing program, Red Sox manager John Farrell said.

Workman received a PRP (platelet-rich-plasma) injection earlier in the week, to help stimulate healing of his injured elbow ligament.

"He’s still probably two or three weeks away from initiating any type of throwing program," Farrell said, per WEEI. "So he’ll remain here in Boston. There are some changes to the ligament. To what extent, or percentage of tear, I don’t have that. But that is why he received the injection he did."

Jesse Hahn confident he'll make next start for Athletics
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(12:45 pm ET) Athletics starting pitcher Jesse Hahn was forced to leave Saturday's game with a blister on his right middle finger.

On Sunday, Hahn was wearing a bandage on the finger, but he was confident he wouldn't miss a start, per the Bay Area News Group.

There's still a possibility that the blister will keep him out of the April 23 start, however, so that the blister can heal fully. Jesse Chavez would get the start in his place, per MLB.com.

Masahiro Tanaka's next start up in the air for Yankees
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(12:28 pm ET) Yankees manager Joe Girardi isn't sure when Masahiro Tanaka's next start will be.

The possibility of rain on Monday is causing the uncertainty. Girardi said that Tanaka could start Thursday or Friday, depending on whether Monday's game is played as scheduled, per MLB.com.

Yankees' Carlos Beltran still 'weak', may play on Monday
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(12:26 pm ET) Yankees right fielder Carlos Beltran still feels "weak" from the illness that has kept him out of the lineup for the last two games, according to manager Joe Girardi.

The team is hopeful that Beltran will be able to play against Detroit on Monday, per MLB.com
