Giants recall Hunter Stricklan, DFA Casey McGehee

(2:17 pm ET) The Giants announced on Sunday that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Hunter Strickland from Triple-A. 

In a corresponding move, the Giants designated infielder Casey McGehee for assignment. 

Strickland, a prospect at closer, has posted a 1.66 ERA in 15 appearances with Triple-A Sacramento this season. He has five saves in 21 2/3 innings pitched. 

McGehee is slashing just .200/.254/.282 this season. 


Orioles call up Chaz Roe, send down T.J. McFarland

(2:15 pm ET) The Orioles purchased the contract of RHP Chaz Roe from Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. Roe is 3-1 with a 2.19 ERA at Norfolk.

To make room, Baltimore optioned LHP T.J. McFarland to Norfolk. McFarland is 0-1, with a 3.60 ERA in five games with the Orioles. 

The Orioles also moved LHP Wesley Wright, out with a neck injury, from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day, opening a spot on the team's 40-man roster for Roe. 


Cardinals' Matt Holliday (left arm contusion) out against Royals

(2:09 pm ET) Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday will not play in Sunday's game against the Royals. 

Heading out to left field in his spot will be Mark Reynolds, who was the designated hitter on Saturday. Jhonny Peralta will be St. Louis' DH and Pete Kozma will play shortstop. 

Peralta will hit third, Reynolds will his hit seventh and Kozma will bat ninth. 


Tigers place Kyle Lobstein on disabled list

(2:07 pm ET) The Tigers placed pitcher Kyle Lobstein on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday, after struggling through a start on Saturday night.

Lobstein is suffering from a sore left shoulder.  

"He had complained of shoulder soreness here and there, nothing major," manager Brad Ausmus said, per MLB.com. "In the back of my mind, I thought something might be wrong. His velocity has been down almost all year."

The Tigers called up infielder Dixon Machado from Triple-A Toledo to replace him on the roster. Buck Farmer will be called up to replace Lobstein in the rotation for Thursday's start.


Giants' Brandon Crawford sits, Joaquin Arias in at shortstop

(2:03 pm ET) Shorstop Brandon Crawford is sitting out of Sunday's series-finale against the Rockies. 

Crawford rested on Thursday and appears to be doing the same for this game as well. In his place at shortstop will be Joaquin Arias, who is penciled in to bat eighth. 

Buster Posey and Nori Aoki are in the lineup after playing one game of Saturday's doubleheader. 


Austin Jackson may return to Mariners on Monday

(1:57 pm ET) Mariners outfielder Austin Jackson may return to the team on Monday, manager Lloyd McClendon said before Sunday's game. 

"He’s feeling a lot better. I think he’s real close," McClendon said per MLB.com. "We’ll see how he feels after today’s game and go from there."

Jackson is on the 15-day disabled list with an ankle injury. He's hitting .310 in seven rehab games at Triple-A.


Kurt Suzuki, Danny Santana out of Twins lineup on Sunday

(1:52 pm ET) Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki was out of the starting lineup on Sunday. Suzuki was replaced by Chris Herrmann, who gets his ninth start behind the plate. 

Shortstop Danny Santana also misses a start. He's replaced by Eduardo Escobar for the fifth time this season. 

Right fielder Torii Hunter also gets a day away from the field, starting at DH.


Pablo Sandoval misses fifth straight start for Red Sox

(1:48 pm ET) Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval is out of the starting lineup for the fifth straight game, with an injured knee. 

Brock Holt replaces Sandoval at third, his eighth start of the year at the hot corner. 


Red Sox place Shane Victorino on disabled list

(1:40 pm ET) The Red Sox placed right fielder Shane Victorino back on the disabled list with a calf injury. Victorino left Saturday's game in the third inning after stumbling while fielding a fly ball, due to the injury.

"I’m not saying he fought this, but, at the same time, he’s frustrated," manager John Farrell said, per the Providence Journal. "He’s disappointed. But it's kind of hard to plan inning to inning rather than game to game."

Infielder Jeff Bianchi was called up from Triple-A Pawtucket, where he was hitting .302, to replace him on the roster. 


Brett Lawrie out of Athletics' lineup again on Sunday

(1:34 pm ET) Athletics third baseman Brett Lawrie is out of the starting lineup for the second straight game. 

Lawrie has missed the time due to overall soreness. He's replaced at third by Max Muncy, who gets his fourth time this year.
