Coco Crisp in danger of missing Houston series

(7:26 pm ET) Athletics outfielder Coco Crisp underwent further tests on his injured neck on Monday, but the team is preparing to be without him for entire Houston series, according to MLB.com. The results of the exam have not been made available.

Crisp was absent from the starting lineup Sunday because of the issue and has not been able to return. He's hitting .274/.372/.416 with seven homers and 32 RBI over 281 at-bats.

Daisuke Matsuzaka to throw in three to four days

(7:24 pm ET) Mets pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka will resume throwing in three to four days, according to ESPN.

Matsuzaka landed on the disabled list with arm inflammation, but it's not thought to be serious. Matsuzaka is treating the injury with anti-inflammatories. Matsuzaka has a 3.87 ERA over 74 1/3 innings. 


Royals make several roster moves Monday

(7:22 pm ET) The Royals have assigned newly acquired pitcher Liam Hendricks to Triple-A Omaha, FOX Sports Kansas City reports. Erik Kratz, who was also acquired in the Danny Valencia trade, will join the big-league team Tuesday. The Royals have also recalled shortstop Christian Colon and designated catcher Brett Hayes for assignment.

Aaron Hill expected to return Tuesday

(7:21 pm ET) Diamondbacks infielder Aaron Hill is expected to return to the starting lineup Tuesday, according to the Arizona Republic

Hill was hit by a pitch Saturday, and hasn't been able to play since then. He's available off the bench Monday, so it's clear he's made progress. Hill is hitting .256/.291/.389 over 375 at-bats. 


Chris Leroux back with Triple-A club

Michael Pineda will get some game action tuesday

(7:16 pm ET) Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda is scheduled to throw three innings in a game on Tuesday, according to the Journal News on Monday. Manager Joe Girardi would not reveal whether the right-hander would be pitching in a simulated game or a rehab game.

Pineda is expected to get stretched out in the minors before rejoining the team. Girardi is not concerned about the amount of reps he'll need before he is reinstated.

"As long as he feels good and is throwing the ball well, there'd be no reason not to bring him back," Girardi said. "It's the same as spring training. You build them up, when they're ready to go, you send them."

Blue Jays trade for Danny Valencia Monday

(7:13 pm ET) The Blue Jays have acquired infielder Danny Valencia from the Royals for minor-leaguers Erik Kratz and Liam Hendriks on Monday, the Royals announced. Valencia appeared in just 36 games for Kansas City and owned a .282/.328/.382 slash line with two homers and 11 RBI in 110 at-bats this season.

Jacob deGrom on a 185 innings limit

(7:10 pm ET) Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom will be shut down around 185 innings, according to ESPN.

The club hasn't decided how to handle deGrom moving forward. He may just make all his starts on regular rest until he reaches his limit, or the team will get creative and find ways to skip him during the year. deGrom has been a standout thus far, posting a 2.79 ERA over 87 innings. Including his work in the minors, deGrom has roughly 60 innings left before he reaches his limit. 


Brandon Belt passes concussion test

(7:06 pm ET) Giants first baseman Brandon Belt passed his concussion test Monday, according to the Mercury News.

Belt said he feels good, and is hoping to begin baseball activities soon. He's been sidelined since July 19 due to the injury. Belt is hitting .242/.304/.455 over 165 at-bats. There's still no timetable for his return.


Blue Jays trade away Liam Hendriks, Erik Kratz to Royals

(7:01 pm ET) The Blue Jays have traded pitcher Liam Hendriks and catcher Erik Kratz to the Royals, according to Sportsnet.ca.

Hendricks went 8-1 with a 2.33 ERA in 18 appearances (16 starts) with Triple-A Buffalo. he was shelled for six runs over 1 2/3 innings in his last major-league start on June 21. Kratz hit .299 with three homers and 17 RBI in 87 at-bats. Kratz is expected to join the big-league team, per SB Nation.
