Blue Jays' Jose Bautista remains sidelined Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3:38 pm ET) Blue Jays designated hitter Jose Bautista is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.

Bautista's absence was expected after receiving a cortisone shot in his injured shoulder this weekend. He's just 1 for 15 in his last five games but has hit .215/.364/.454 with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 130 at-bats this season.

The Blue Jays are heavy favorites (-160) at home on Monday, per VegasInsider.com.

Brewers set tentative plan for catcher Jonathan Lucroy
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(3:37 pm ET) The Brewers have set a temporary plan for catcher Jonathan Lucroy to return to action, according to MLB.com.

Lucroy, who is currently on the 15-day DL with a toe injury, received good news on his injury on Monday after undergoing a second X-ray. Manager Craig Counsell has a plan in place to get Lucroy some minor league at-bats this week to help him be ready for the team's upcoming road trip, starting June 1.

Counsell doesn't have a specific timetable in place, however.

"I don't want to say for sure. He's making big progress every day now. I'm just going to let him make that progress. It has a chance to be pretty soon," Counsell said.

Pirates OF Gregory Polanco gets rare start in second hole
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:33 pm ET) Pirates right fielder Gregory Polanco has batted in four different spots in the lineup this season, but has not filled the No. 2 hole since April 26.

That is, until Monday.

Polanco provided some encouragement by managing his first two-hit in two weeks Sunday. He came off the bench to smack those two hits.

Reds pitcher Sean Marshall may return this season
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(3:32 pm ET) Reds pitcher Sean Marshall was expecting to miss the entire season just a week ago. Now, Marshall is breathing a sigh of relief after his latest doctor's appointment, according to MLB.com.

Marshall was scheduled for season-ending shoulder surgery last Wednesday, but the doctor only found scar tissue when he began the procedure.

"It's nearly a miracle," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "What a difference a day makes. He's fired up."

Marshall said the volume and thickness of the scar tissue in his shoulder led to a misdiagnosis. He is currently on the 60-day DL with the injury but is hoping to throw again this season. He posted a 7.71 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 14 innings of work in 2014.

Pirates SS Jung Ho Kang grabbing some pine Monday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:29 pm ET) Pirates shortstop Jung Ho Kang is on a seven-game hitting streak that will not reach eight Monday unless he emerges from the bench to hit safely. He is out of the lineup against Miami.

Kang is 11-for-29 on his recent tear and owns a fine slash line of .304/.369/.435.

Pirates SP Charlie Morton back; RP Radhames Liz designated
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:19 pm ET) The Pirates had already announced that right-hander Charlie Morton was set to start Monday against Miami, but they had to take care of some business first.

That was accomplished when they reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list. His start will be his first since he underwent labrum surgery in September.

The team designated fellow righty Radhames Liz for assignment to make room for Morton.

Mariners' Justin Ruggiano, Mike Zunino back in the lineup Monday
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(3:10 pm ET) Mariners outfielder Justin Ruggiano and catcher Mike Zunino are back in the starting lineup on Monday against the Rays, the team announced.

Ruggiano and Zunino got the day off on Sunday with Welington Castillo and Dustin Ackley drawing starts. Ruggiano is hitting .207 with three RBI in 58 at-bats this season. Zunino is hitting .183 in 120 at-bats this season. The Mariners are currently the underdogs (+115) against Tampa Bay.

Brewers RP Michael Blazek could get spot start Wednesday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:08 pm ET) Brewers reliever Michael Blazek could start Wednesday against the Giants if Wily Peralta is unavailable due to a rib injury sustained Friday.

The right-handed Blazek worked as a starter in spring training before being placed in the bullpen. He is coming off a three-inning scoreless performance against Atlanta on Friday.

"He threw 45 pitches in his last outing," pointed out Craig Counsell. "We'll consider everything as to what would be the best way to get through a game."

The team remains hopeful that Peralta can pitch.

Rays' Asdrubal Cabrera, Steven Souza out of lineup Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2:52 pm ET) Rays shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and right fielder Steven Souza are out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners.

Cabrera suffered a mild groin sprain on Sunday and will be replaced by Tim Beckham at shortstop on Monday. Souza was removed from Sunday's game after suffering a sprained left wrist on a foul tip. His absence will earn Monday call-up Jake Elmore a start in left field.

The Rays are favorites (-128) at home on Monday, per VegasInsider.com.

Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton has raked against Monday starter
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2:50 pm ET) Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton is generally a good bet to produce against most any pitcher. But his matchup Monday against Pittsburgh starter Charlie Morton is particularly promising.

Stanton is 7-for-15 lifetime against Morton with three walks. Oddly, however, he has no home runs in those plate appearances.
