Athletics' Brett Lawrie hits game-winning homer in 10th inning

(11:10 pm ET) Athletics third baseman Brett Lawrie led off the 10th inning with a solo home run on Tuesday. The shot put the A's on top to stay. 

It was Lawrie's second career extra-inning home run and first since Sept. 5, 2011. 

Lawrie went 1 for 4 and hit his eighth homer of the year. It was his first homer since June 24 and just his second RBI since then. 


Orioles 1B Christian Walker expected to join team Wednesday

(11:08 pm ET) The Orioles are planning on promoting first baseman Christian Walker on Wednesday, reports MASNsports.com.

Walker has been playing for the team's Triple-A affiliate. He hit .167 with one home run and one RBI in 18 at-bats last season.


Twins SP Kyle Gibson picks up seventh win on Tuesday

(11:06 pm ET) Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson was excellent once again on Tuesday. Gibson allowed two runs on six hits over six innings. He walked one and struck out seven, as the Twins beat the Orioles 8-3.

Gibson (7-6) allowed a two-run home run to J.J. Hardy in the fifth inning for the only blemish on his evening. Gibson has a 2.56 ERA with 27 punchouts over his last seven starts.


Billy Butler hits game-tying home run in Athletics' win

(11:02 pm ET) Athletics designated hitter Billy Butler hit a game-tying solo home run in the sixth inning of Tuesday's win over the Yankees. 

Butler hit his seventh homer of the year and first since June 29. He went 1 for 4 and drove in his 37th run. 


Astros SP Brett Oberholtzer to start Thursday vs. Indians

(11:00 pm ET) Astros left-hander Brett Oberholtzer will be summoned from Triple-A to start on Thursday against the Indians, according to MLB.com.

Oberholtzer last pitched in the big leagues on June 27, but was ejected in the second inning against the Yankees. He was sent down to Fresno following that outing.

The Astros have not officially recalled the lefty, though they have optioned right-hander Vincent Velasquez to Double-A on Tuesday. 


Athletics' Tyler Clippard picks up 17th save

(10:59 pm ET) Athletics closer Tyler Clippard pitched a scoreless tenth inning to protect a one-run lead against the Yankees on Tuesday. 

Clippard didn't allow a hit, but he walked two batters, the most he's given up since May 26. He struck out one and converted his seventh save opportunity in a row. 

Clippard now has 17 saves on the year. He has not allowed a run or hit in his last five outings.


Drew Pomeranz gets win in relief for Athletics

(10:55 pm ET) Athletics reliever Drew Pomeranz earned his first win since May 12 with two perfect innings against the Yankees on Tuesday. 

Pomeranz entered with the potential go-ahead run on base in the eighth and retired every batter he faced. 

It was the eighth straight appearance without allowing a run for Pomeranz. 


David Murphy gives Indians early lead in 2-0 win Tuesday

(10:48 pm ET) Indians outfielder David Murphy went 2 for 3 with an RBI-double in the first inning of Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Astros. Murphy put the Indians up early with his run-scoring two-bagger.

Murphy had gone 17 games since the last time he hit a double, but he is batting .360 over his last 11 games (seven starts). 


Dellin Betances takes loss in tenth inning for Yankees

(10:47 pm ET) Yankees reliever Dellin Betances took the loss on Tuesday, after giving up a run in the tenth inning to Oakland. 

Betances pitched a scoreless ninth to send the game to extra innings. He gave up a home run to start the tenth. 

Betances dropped to 5-2. He gave up a run in relief for the second straight game and allowed a homer for the second straight day after not giving one up all year. 


Chasen Shreve blows lead for Yankees in extra-inning loss

(10:44 pm ET) Yankees reliever Chasen Shreve was charged with his first career blown save, after he couldn't keep a one-run lead in the sixth inning. 

Shreve allowed a solo home run to tie the game. It was the first run Shreve has allowed since May 22, snapping a 15-game scoreless streak.
