(10:42 am ET) Cubs catcher Kyle Schwarber was held out of Saturday's linuep against the Diamondbacks because of a rib injury, reports MLB.com. Schwarber has not played since Tuesday because of soreness in his ribs.

Rangers RP Keone Kela dealing with elbow soreness

(10:37 am ET) The Rangers have temporarily shut down pitcher Keone Kela because of soreness in his right elbow, reports MLB.com. Tests revealed no structural damage to the elbow.

"We're probably going to shut him down for a couple of days," manager Jeff Banister said Friday. "We'll let it calm down. It's more out of being conservative and precautionary with one of our young pitchers, is the reason why we sent him back to have looked at. We wanted to make sure we had this one right."


Rays outright Hak-Ju Lee to Triple-A

Giants catcher Andrew Susac to have wrist examined

(10:29 am ET) Giants catcher Andrew Susac returned to San Francisco to have his injured wrist examined by a hand specialist, reports the San Jose Mercury News.

Susac has been dealing with the wrist aliment since spring training and he will not play in Saturday's contest.

Giants' Buster Posey takes beating during Friday's loss

(12:40 am ET) Giants catcher Buster Posey said he felt OK after fouling a ball off his foot and getting hit by a pitch in the upper arm during Friday's 2-1 loss to the Rockies, reports the San Jose Mercury News. Posey stayed in the game and went 1 for 3 at the plate.

Pirates SP J.A. Happ tosses three hitter in Friday's win

(12:25 am ET) Pirates pitcher J.A. Happ was nearly unhittable during Friday's 9-3 win over the Cardinals. Happ did not allow a run over seven innings and only gave up three hits.

He also struck out eight and did not walk a batter. Happ is now 8-7 with a 3.90 ERA and has won his last four outings.


Astros catcher Hank Conger collects five RBI in Friday's win

(12:20 am ET) Astros catcher Hank Conger smacked a grand slam to help send the team to an 8-0 win over the Twins on Friday.

Conger hit the grand slam in the fourth inning off Mike Pelfrey. He finished the game 2 for 4 with five RBI.

Prior to Friday's win, Conger was hitting .079 with one home run and two RBI in his last 13 games (10 starts).


Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo collects four RBI in Friday's win

(9/4/2015) Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo drove in a team-high four RBI to help propel the team to a 14-5 win over the D-Backs on Friday.

His biggest hit came in the fifth inning when he hit a grand slam off A.J. Schugel. He finished the game 2 for 3 with one walk.

Prior to Friday's win, Rizzo was hitting .212 with four home runs and nine RBI in his last 14 games.


White Sox SP John Danks goes the distance Friday

(9/4/2015) White Sox pitcher John Danks pitched a complete game during Friday's 12-1 win over the Royals.

Danks allowed one run on seven hits over nine innings of work. He also struck out five and walked one. He improved to 7-12 with a 4.60 ERA.
