Braves RP Jason Grilli on the trading block?

(2:18 pm ET) Braves closer Jason Grilli is being pursued by several teams in a midseason trade, including the Blue Jays, according to a report from the Boston Globe.

Grilli is a valuable asset given that he can be used as a closer or set-up man, and might not cost the trading team as much in a deal as some of the other relievers on the market. 

Grilli has 22 saves in 24 opportunities this season in addition to a 3-3 record and 2.93 ERA. 


Phillies Jerome Williams headed to Double-A rehab stint

(2:10 pm ET) Phillies pitcher Jerome Williams will start a minor league rehab assignment at Double-A Reading, per MLB.com.

Williams has been on the disabled list since mid-June with a strained left hamstring.

Williams is expected to make two rehab starts at Reading and then may be ready to rejoin the Phillies' rotation.


Cardinals' Adam Wainwright ditches walking boot

(2:09 pm ET) Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright is no longer using a walking boot, reports Fox Sports Midwest.

Wainwright is recovering from a torn Achilles, which he suffered in April. He is hoping to return for the playoffs.


Rockies give Nolan Arenado Sunday off

(2:07 pm ET) Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado is not in Sunday's starting lineup for just the fourth time this season. 

Arenado had started the last 43 games at the hot corner, dating back to May 21. 

In his place, Daniel Descalso gets his second start of the season at third. 


Mets' Michael Cuddyer returns to lineup Sunday

(2:02 pm ET) Mets outfielder Michael Cuddyer returned to the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Cuddyer will hit sixth and play left field. Cuddyer had been sidelined after suffering an injury to his left knee. Over his last 11 games, Cuddyer is hitting .065 with one double and no RBI.

The Mets are the underdogs (+170) at Los Angeles on Sunday. 


Dodgers' Scott Van Slyke gets first start in left in 12 games

(1:57 pm ET) Dodgers outfielder Scott Van Slyke will start in left field in Sunday's game. 

It's Van Slyke's 20th start of the year in left but first in 12 games. Van Slyke also had two starts in right and one at first base over that stretch. 


Enrique Hernandez gives Jimmy Rollins a rest in Dodgers' lineup

(1:33 pm ET) Dodgers shortstop Jimmy Rollins gets a rest on Sunday, as he's out of the starting lineup for the first time in 12 games. Rollins had started 15 of the previous 16 games at short. 

In his place, Enrique Hernandez gets his ninth start of the year at short. 


A.J. Ellis gets start for Dodgers, in place of Yasmani Grandal

(1:30 pm ET) Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal isn't in the starting lineup for Sunday's game. Grandal has started a team-high 56 games behind the plate, including six of the last seven. 

In Grandal's place, A.J. Ellis gets the start at catcher for the 25th time this year. Ellis and Grandal have split the last four starts. 


Mariners give Austin Jackson day off Sunday

(1:27 pm ET) The Mariners held outfielder Austin Jackson out of Sunday's lineup at Oakland, reports MLB Lineups.

Jackson was replaced in center field by James Jones, who will bat first. Over his last 13 games, Jackson is hitting .200 with two doubles and three RBI.

The Mariners are the underdogs (+110) at Oakland on Sunday.


Cardinals recall Tim Cooney to start Tuesday's game

(1:20 pm ET) The Cardinals promoted pitcher Tim Cooney from the minor leagues Sunday, the team announced.

Cooney will start Tuesday's doubleheader game against the Cubs in Chicago. Cooney received two no-decisions in two previous starts this season and he produced a 5.40 ERA.
