Hamstring - Questionable for May 29 vs. Detroit (Updated - 5/28/15)
News
Angels manager Mike Scioscia said after Thursday's win over the Tigers that shortstop Erick Aybar (hamstring) is not expected to need a trip to the disabled list, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Aybar left Thursday's game due to hamstring tightness. He suffered the injury while trying to beat a bunt to first base. The team could call up a capable replacement at shortstop even if the Angels believe Aybar will only miss a few games with the injury. He was replaced Thursday by Taylor Featherston, who had played a total of six innings across four games at the position this season.

News
It wasn't long ago that Angels starting pitcher Jered Weaver was dealing with a 0-4 start to the season. His ERA stood at 6.29 through his first six starts and his fastball velocity was sitting around 83 mph.

However, days after falling to 0-4 following a May 3 start against the Giants, Weaver began to iron out some mechanical issues, according to MLB.com. He focused on keeping his head "on the target" and throwing through his across-the-body delivery, rather than "pulling off" and not having a direct line to home plate.

The results have been pretty good since fixing the flaws in his delivery. He threw a complete-game shutout May 8 against the Astros to pick up his first win. He is 3-0 with a 1.50 ERA in his last four starts, lowering his ERA to 4.06.

"My front side was kind of erratic and I wanted to clean that up," Weaver said. "But my front side has been a lot better, which leads to a better arm slot, so everything's coming out of the same slot now. It's a good feeling."

News
Angels pitcher Garrett Richards took the loss on Wednesday, giving up five runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks in 6 2/3 innings while striking out six in his team's 5-4 defeat against the Padres.

Richards (4-3) gave up an RBI double in the second and a two-run homer in the fourth, both to Will Middlebrooks, but the game was tied after six innings. He then surrendered two unearned runs in the seventh after committing an error himself earlier in the frame.

Richards owns a 3.12 ERA and 43:21 K:BB ratio in 52 innings. He's slated to face the Rays on Monday.

Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias remains out of the lineup for the third game in a row on Tuesday. Iglesias hasn't played since Saturday when he banged up his knee on a play at first base. Manager Brad Ausmus told MLive.com that there's a chance Iglesias could play on Wednesday.

"If he comes in and tells me he can play tomorrow, I'll play him. It's kinda on him if he feels like he's ready."

Andrew Romine will get the start at shortstop and bat eighth against the A's on Tuesday.

News
After starting four straight games, Cardinals center fielder Peter Bourjos is being held out of the lineup on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. Bourjos has seen the majority of the playing time in center field ever since Jon Jay went on the disabled list in the middle of May.

But Bourjos has struggled at the plate, hitting an even .200 (7 for 35) in the 12 games since Jay went down. So, Randal Grichuk will get the start in center and bat eighth on Tuesday.

Mariners closer Fernando Rodney blew his second save of the year but earned the win over Tampa Bay on Tuesday.

Rodney snapped a string of 11 straight save opportunities converted, blowing his first save since April 14. He was unable to preserve a three-run lead, allowing the first four runners to reach base in the ninth.

Rodney allowed three runs on three hits. He walked one and hit a batter.

The Mariners scored the game-winning run in the tenth to give Rodney the win, improving his record to 2-2.
