News
General manager Jeff Luhnow said that Brad Peacock or Jerome Williams are the leading candidates to replace demoted Lucas Harrell in the starting rotation for the Astros, according to MLB.com.

Peacock has struggled in long relief with eight walks and a 6.00 in three appearances covering nine innings. Williams, who boasts far more experience as a starter, has sandwiched strong performances around one disastrous outing against his former Angels teammates.

News
It might fall under the category of nitpicking for arguably the most productive hitter in the game, but the dropoff in stolen bases for Mike Trout has become noticeable.

That number dropped from 49 in 2012 to 33 last season. He has just one in 15 games this year. One reason is the lack of opportunities. He has been on first base with second unoccupied just 10 times in 2014. Left-handers, who are generally tougher to run against, have been on the mound in six of those instances. The Angels led 11-1 in another.

Trout explained as well that he is receiving more attention. "Pitchers have been giving me a lot of different looks," he told the Orange County Register. "You don't want to run into outs, but we're going to stay aggressive for sure."

News
It took four starts, but Angels starting pitcher Jered Weaver finally got his first win of the season Friday night against the Tigers. The right-hander received more than enough run support, as he allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out three over six innings pitched.

Weaver lowered his ERA from 5.79 to 4.74 after Friday's win. He's posted a 1.09 WHIP along with 20:10 K:BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings pitched.

The Blue Jays announced several roster moves before activating shortstop Jose Reyes from the disabled list on Friday.

The team selected the contract of infielder Juan Francisco from Triple-A Buffalo and transferred Maicer Izturis to the 60-day disabled list following a 3-2 win over Cleveland. The team also placed Adam Lind on the 15-day disabled list.

News
Angels starting pitcher Garrett Richards pitched well enough to win for six innings Tuesday, but faltered late in a 10-9 extra innings loss to the A's.

Richards allowed three runs in his first six innings of work, and seemed well on his way to a win, up 5-3. Unfortunately, he ran into trouble in the seventh, allowing two more runs to come across, a sign of bad things to come for the bullpen.

Richards was charged with five earned runs on eight hits and a pair of walks in seven innings of work, while striking out five. He settled for a no-decision, as the game went into extras.

Richards had allowed just one run through his first two starts, so this was something of a disappointment. He will try to bounce back in his next start, carrying a 2-0 record and 2.84 ERA into Monday's scheduled start in Washington.

News
Mariners closer Fernando Rodney was charged with a blown save and a loss after giving up two unearned runs on two hits and one walk in his team's 3-2 loss to the Rangers Wednesday.

Rodney (0-1) didn't make things easy for himself, but he was able to induce a ground ball to the shortstop with men on first and second for what should have been the third out. However, a high throw from Brad Miller pulled the second baseman off the bag and all runners were safe. Rodney then let the tying run score on a wild pitch before the winning run came home on a single to left field.

The Mariners closer hasn't given up an earned run in 4 1/3 innings this season while striking out eight and walking three.

News
Rockies starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood got plenty of support and cruised to his first win of the season Friday against the Phillies.

Chatwood didn't really need much help, but the offense was active early and often in the win. He allowed just one unearned run on a pair of hits and one walk, while striking out six batters in seven innings of work in the 12-1 win.

Chatwood bounced back from a subpar first start off the disabled list, and is now 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA. He has struck out 11 batters with just one hit and eight walks allowed in 13 innings of work. His next start is scheduled for Wednesday against the Giants.
