It doesn't seem to matter if the Angels win or lose - slugger Mike Trout is going to do some damage with the bat.

That damage in a loss to San Francisco on Saturday came in the form of his sixth home run, a 403-foot solo blast to left. He also helped make things interesting in the ninth with a single and run scored.

Trout owns an impressively typical .333/.441/.619 slash line and has hit safely in seven of his last eight games.

News
Marlins pitcher Dan Haren worked six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits in Miami's 7-0 win over the Phillies on Saturday.

Haren worked efficiently through his outing, tossing 103 pitches with 72 going for strikes. Haren's most difficult moments came in the third when with two men on, he let a pitch get away from him to move the runners to second and third. Haren finished the inning off, however, forcing Odubel Herrera into a line out.

Haren, now 3-1, lowered his ERA to 2.70 and will look to keep rolling Thursday against the Giants.

News
Angels starting pitcher Jered Weaver (0-4) yielded consecutive home runs in the first inning on Sunday and never recovered, giving up five runs, overall, on 10 hits in five innings for a loss in San Francisco.

Nori Aoki and Joe Panik delivered the back-to-back blows for the Giants.

Weaver's fastball stayed around 83-84 mph all game and remains winless after six starts this season.

"It's frustrating," he said. "I'm not doing a very good job of helping the team win right now. It's tough. Just when you think the outing is going to be good, it starts out like it did today."

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said after the game that he has no plans on skipping Weaver for his next start.

"I don't think there's any magic pixie dust you can sprinkle on it and get him going," Scioscia said. "It's gonna be a process. He's not injured."

Weaver will seek his first win of 2015 on Friday against the Astros.

Richards is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA over his last three starts. He will seek his third win of the season Sunday at home against the Astros.

Mariners closer Fernando Rodney gave up a home run in the ninth inning Monday but was able to finish off his team's 3-2 win over the Angels for his eighth save.

Rodney retired the first batter he faced in the ninth inning but then served up a homer to center field to bring the Angels within one. After another out, the closer put a man on base with a walk, but catcher Mike Zunino was able to throw out a pinch-runner on a steal attempt to finish the game.

Rodney owns a 5.56 ERA and 11:7 K:BB ratio in 11 1/3 innings.
