Saturday's solo shot came in the sixth inning off Cubs' starter Jake Arrieta, and gave the D-Backs a 6-4 lead. The 31-year-old Gosewisch has hit safely in nine of his last 11 games and owns a .231 batting average on the season.

Diamondbacks starter Rubby De La Rosa (4-2) pitched well in Saturday's loss to the Cubs, all except for one inning. The young right-hander tossed six innings, allowing four runs on four hits. He struck out eight and walked two on the evening.

All of the damage to De La Rosa came in a four-run fifth inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, De La Rosa hit Kris Bryant to force in a run, and then served up a three-run double to Anthony Rizzo.

Fortunately for De La Rosa, his offense put up six runs on his behalf. Unfortunately for him, the bullpen wasn't able to hold the lead, as he picked up the no decision. He'll take a 4.27 ERA into his next start, scheduled for Friday in Milwaukee.

Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale is trtying to calm down pitcher Oliver Perez and his delivery motion, according to AZCentral.com.

Perez's delivery tends to vary from pitch to pitch, leading to his inconsistency. Perez is 1-1 with a 7.20 ERA in 10 innings of work this season.

"We're trying to calm him down with all the different windups he uses," Hale said. "Once he gets in the game, he speeds up and seems to want to go to the Luis Tiantone and the quick pitch. … It's hard to be consistent with the release point when you're doing all those different things."

Perez also has 13 strikeouts with just four walks on the year.

"I'm looking at everything with my mechanics," Perez said. "We're really looking at video and trying to get a good rhythm in my bullpens. It's one of those times when you have to work."

Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt went 2 for 3 at the plate in Arizona's 4-3 win over the Cubs on Sunday.

Goldschmidt did his damage in the third inning when he blasted a two-run shot off of Jason Hammel to deep center field, his 12th of the season.

"I've never seen a guy, basically it's just the flick of his wrist to hit it that far," D-backs manager Chip Hale said to MLB.com. "He's got such good mechanics with his hands to stay through the ball. When he gets on a run, yes, it's enjoyable to watch. We have to have guys behind him hit because what's gonna happen is he's not gonna get a whole lot of pitches to hit."

Goldschmidt continues to tear up pitching early in the season and is now hitting .333 with 38 RBI in 156 at-bats.

Diamondbacks rookie starting pitcher Archie Bradley had another rough outing Tuesday at St. Louis and has struggled since returning from the disabled list. Bradley, who was struck in the head by a line drive during an April 28 start vs. Colorado, has an 11.89 ERA in three starts since returning to action.

"No, the injury is past," Bradley said, per MLB.com. "It's just bad baseball, it's bad pitching, it's bad pitches, it's bad sequences, it's just everything is not good right now and I know that. I don't feel sorry for myself. I don't think anyone else should. I've just got to get it fixed, I've got to get it fixed quick."

Manager Chip Hale said Bradley is relying too much on his fastball and not enough on his curveball and changeup.

"He was relying on the fastball early again and was not throwing enough strikes," Hale said of Bradley's outing Tuesday. "The good hitters, like they are, ambushed him a couple of times. He's got to get control of those other pitches so he can use them. He can't just be a thrower in this league. You've got to be a pitcher."
