Braves pitcher Shelby Miller endured a rather peculiar start on Thursday against the Phillies. The right-hander allowed four runs on 11 hits over six innings. He walked one and struck four, but was stuck with the loss in the 4-1 final.

Of the 11 hits--which tied a season-high--all but one went for singles. Domoninc Brown launched a solo home run in the sixth inning for the only extra-base hit against Miller.

But the Phillies scored two in the fourth, and one each in the fifth and sixth innings, en route to the victory.

Miller went 0-4 with a 3.24 ERA in five starts this month.

News
Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz pitched well in a spot start, but two mistakes cost him in a 2-0 loss to the Orioles on Wednesday.

In his first start since June 14, Foltynewicz struck out eight batters over six innings, but allowed solo home runs in the third and fourth innings for the only blemishes on his ledger.

Foltynewicz, who was recalled from Triple-A to fill in for injured Manny Banuelos, falls to 3-3. It's unclear whether he will make another start.

The Dodgers have snagged several veterans in a just-completed three-way trade filled with prospects, per Yahoo Sports.

They receive starting pitchers Alex Wood and Bronson Arroyo and relievers Luis Avilan and Jim Johnson, as well as minor league utility infielder Jose Peraza from the Braves. They also get first baseman Michael Morse and starting pitcher Mat Latos from the Marlins.

The Dodgers sent several prospects to both teams. First baseman Hector Olivera, lefty Paco Rodriguez and starting pitcher Zachary Bird head to Atlanta while pitchers Victor Araujo and Angel Guzman go to Miami.

The keys are Wood and Latos, who will likely immediately join the Los Angeles rotation, as well as Johnson, who has been used as the Atlanta closer.

The 24-year-old Wood hasn't performed as well this season as he did in 2014, but he is 7-6 with a 3.54 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 119 1/3 innings.

Latos is 4-7 with a 4.48 ERA, but has come on strong. He has allowed just six earned runs in his last 26 innings pitched.

Johnson has nine saves, but will almost certainly be used behind Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen.

In just his third game back from the disabled list, Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman went deep for his 13th home run of the year. It was his only hit of the game, as the Braves dropped the game 7-3 to the Orioles.

His two-run home run gave the Braves an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but it wouldn't last, as the Orioles scored three in the bottom half en route to their victory.

News
The road struggles continued for Braves starter Julio Teheran on Tuesday. The right-hander allowed five runs on five hits over four innings in a 7-3 loss to the Orioles. Teheran walked four and struck out four, needing 92 pitches (52 strikes) to get through the fourth.

Teheran (6-6, 4.71 ERA) was given a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. But he coughed up the lead in the bottom half, allowing a three-run home run to Chris Davis. Teheran was stung by Davis again in the second, this time with a two-run shot.

Teheran has been dreadful on the road this year, going 1-5 with a 7.28 ERA in 11 starts away from Turner Field.

"I don't know if it's mental, but the numbers sure show it. We've got to get through it", manager Fredi Gonzalez said on Teheran's road woes, per the Braves Radio Net.

Overall, Teheran is 3-4 with a 4.01 ERA over his past seven starts.

Surprising catcher A.J. Pierzynski will be sticking around unless the Braves are overwhelmed with an offer, according to USA Today, which is claiming that he has become too valuable to the organization on and off the field. He had previously been rumored to be on the trading block.

Pierzynski seemed to be winding down his career as a backup upon his arrival in Atlanta, but he quickly wrested the starting job away from Christian Bethancourt and has been performing well ever since. He has even batted cleanup on occasion.

He has compiled a slash line of .287/.325/.425 on the year and is currently on a six-game hitting streak.
