News
Braves pitcher Shelby Miller allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings of work in Atlanta's 3-2 win over the Brewers on Saturday in 11 innings, but did not factor into a decision.

Miller had just two issues in the game, one coming in the first inning. After allowing a leadoff double to Carlos Gomez, Miller gave up a single to Ryan Braun to drive home a run. Then in the fourth, Miller put runners on first and second with two outs before allowing an RBI single to Martin Maldonado. It was Miller's shortest outing in his last five appearances.

"Did I have my best stuff today? No," Miller said to 680 The Fan. "But my teammates did a good job hanging in there with me, making some good plays."

Miller, who remains 5-1, moved his ERA to 1.50 in 60 innings of work this season. He will look to get back on track Thursday against the Giants.

News
Braves pitcher Mike Foltynewicz earned a win on Sunday, allowing one earned run on just three hits and one walk while striking out seven in his team's 2-1 victory over the Brewers.

Foltynewicz (3-1) delivered the best start of his young career on Sunday, limiting the damage to a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.

"It's all about the pitching," said Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez to MLB.com. "You get a good pitching performance, and you're in the game and you can do some stuff offensively to score runs."

It was his fourth straight start with seven strikeouts and his second straight outing with only one free pass.

"I was attacking the zone with the fastball, getting early outs and the slider and curveball were working OK," Foltynewicz said. "They got a couple good hits off them at the end. Me and [catcher A.J. Pierzynski] had a good game plan going in, and we stuck with it and got guys out."

Foltynewicz owns a 4.25 ERA and 30:12 K:BB ratio in 29 2/3 innings. He's slated to face the Giants on Friday.

News
Braves closer Jason Grilli pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday to earn his 13th save in his team's 2-1 win over the Brewers.

Grilli struck out the first two batters he faced before issuing a walk, but he was able to strike out one more batter to slam the door on his team's win. He's rattled off three straight scoreless outings, but Sunday's three-strikeout game was his first since April 13. Grilli owns a 4.11 ERA and 23:7 K:BB ratio in 15 1/3 innings.

News
Braves center fielder Cameron Maybin batted second for the first time this season on Thursday, going 1 for 4 with a walk, two RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base in his team's 10-1 win over the Brewers.

"It was cool, man," Maybin said of hitting second after the game, per MLB.com. "I didn't really change my approach, tried to keep the same approach -- be a tough out, get a good pitch to hit and just make sure I'm on base, somehow, someway. Whenever I can do that good things happen, and good things happened tonight."

Maybin has excelled since taking over the full-time starting role in center field on May 2, going 17 for 54 with nine runs and 21 RBI.

"My confidence is high," Maybin said. "I've been able to put in some really good work with [hitting coach Kevin Seitzer] in the cage. And every day is a competition. Every day I feel like you have to fight to keep the job, win the job. So my mentality is to come out and go hard everyday and things will work out."

Maybin has hit .255/.352/.426 with four home runs, 17 RBI and five stolen bases in 94 at-bats.

Braves third baseman Chris Johnson, who has been on the disabled list with a hand injury, could rejoin his teammates as early as next Thursday in San Francisco, per the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Johnson has been sidelined for just over three weeks after sustaining a fracture and bone bruises in his left hand. He is slated for five at-bats in an extended spring training game Friday before taking batting practice Saturday and Sunday with the Braves.

When he returns, he will do so on a 6-for-31 slide that lowered his batting average from .500 to .279.

Stults has given up 12 runs in his last two starts and he has not pitched past the seventh inning in any of his eight starts this season. Stults started in place of Alex Wood, who was scratched due to an illness.

Braves pitcher Julio Teheran earned a win on Thursday, allowing one earned run on just two hits and one walk in seven innings while striking out eight in his team's 10-1 victory over the Brewers.

"He had command of all his pitches," manager Fredi Gonzalez said after the game, per MLB.com. "He kept them off-balance and made some pitches when he had to."

Teheran (4-1) gave up a run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning but was brilliant on Thursday to earn just his second win in his last seven starts. He was in danger of missing out on the win as the score remained tied heading into the bottom of the seventh, but the Braves were able to explode for seven runs to put the game out of reach.

"I've been working to get back on track and it showed today that I've been working really good, trying to get my fastball, trying to get all my pitches for strikes and that's something that will get some wins for us," Teheran said.

Teheran owns a 3.91 ERA and 47:19 K:BB ratio in 50 2/3 innings. He's on track to face the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Braves second baseman Jace Peterson went 2 for 6 at the plate in Atlanta's 3-2 win over the Brewers on Saturday in 11 innings.

Peterson was just 1 for 5 before stepping to the plate in the 11th with runners on second and third. He ripped the first pitch he saw from Brandon Kintzler into left center field to score the game-winning run for Atlanta.

"[Peterson] had a great at-bat," said Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez to MLB.com. "First pitch, got him. Base hit. When you play that long, especially at home, it's nice to win those games."

Peterson is now hitting .264 with 18 RBI in 129 at-bats this season.

"I was trying to be aggressive," Peterson said. "Trying to get a fastball, and he threw it first pitch, so I was just trying to get a base hit and trying to get the run in."
