Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz pitched well in a spot start, but two mistakes cost him in a 2-0 loss to the Orioles on Wednesday.

In his first start since June 14, Foltynewicz struck out eight batters over six innings, but allowed solo home runs in the third and fourth innings for the only blemishes on his ledger.

Foltynewicz, who was recalled from Triple-A to fill in for injured Manny Banuelos, falls to 3-3. It's unclear whether he will make another start.

News
Braves right fielder Nick Markakis will return to familiar territory as Atlanta opens a series at Baltimore, and Markakis will move back to a familiar spot in the lineup, hitting leadoff for Monday's game.

While Markakis has hit leadoff 18 times this season, it's the first time he's done so since May 13 as second baseman Jace Peterson primarily filled the leadoff role. According to the Braves Radio Network, manager Fredi Gonzalez wanted to move Markakis to the top of the lineup, but waited for injured first baseman Freddie Freeman to return before making the switch.

News
At least one Atlanta batter reached base in six of the first eight innings Monday night in Baltimore. If just one of them had scored, Braves starter Alex Wood probably would have been celebrating a victory.

Instead, he lamented a no-decision, particularly after his team went down to defeat in extra innings.

Wood yielded a mere three hits in pitching shutout ball for 7 1/3 innings. He walked two, fanned seven and retired 12 batters in a row at one point.

The left-hander, who managed his finest effort since June 28, has lowered his ERA to 3.54.

Braves starter Matt Wisler moved to 5-1 on the year with a win over St. Louis on Sunday.

Wisler won his fourth straight decision and hasn't suffered a loss since June 25. He went seven innings and allowed two runs on seven hits.

Wisler walked three, struck out three and didn't allow a homer for the first time since July 1, snapping a string of three straight starts.

News
In just his third game back from the disabled list, Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman went deep for his 13th home run of the year. It was his only hit of the game, as the Braves dropped the game 7-3 to the Orioles.

His two-run home run gave the Braves an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but it wouldn't last, as the Orioles scored three in the bottom half en route to their victory.

A MRI revealed that Braves starting pitcher Manny Banuelos has a bone spur on the posterior portion of his left elbow, according to MLB.com.

Though the bone spur isn't exactly good news, there is still hope that Banuelos could pitch for Atlanta this season.

News
The road struggles continued for Braves starter Julio Teheran on Tuesday. The right-hander allowed five runs on five hits over four innings in a 7-3 loss to the Orioles. Teheran walked four and struck out four, needing 92 pitches (52 strikes) to get through the fourth.

Teheran (6-6, 4.71 ERA) was given a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. But he coughed up the lead in the bottom half, allowing a three-run home run to Chris Davis. Teheran was stung by Davis again in the second, this time with a two-run shot.

Teheran has been dreadful on the road this year, going 1-5 with a 7.28 ERA in 11 starts away from Turner Field.

"I don't know if it's mental, but the numbers sure show it. We've got to get through it", manager Fredi Gonzalez said on Teheran's road woes, per the Braves Radio Net.

Overall, Teheran is 3-4 with a 4.01 ERA over his past seven starts.
