News
Braves catcher Evan Gattis could be cleared to catch bullpen sessions this weekend, according to MLB.com.

That's the hope, according to manager Fredi Gonzalez. Gattis has been sidelined due to a back injury. The team has not put a timetable on his return just yet. He was hitting .290/.342/.558 over 224 at-bats prior to the injury.

News
Braves pitcher Aaron Harang turned in a solid start Thursday against the Mets.

Harang allowed one run on four hits over seven innings of work. He walked four and struck out two during the outing. Harang only found himself in trouble twice during the game. After a single and a walk, Harang allowed David Wright to hit an RBI single in the third inning.

The following inning, Harang wound up loading the bases after giving up a single and walking two batters, but managed to escape without any damage. He threw 104 pitches during the start.

The win brings Harang to 9-6 on the year. He’ll make his next start shortly after the All-Star Game.

Braves pitcher Julio Teheran struggled in a loss Tuesday, giving up five earned runs on 11 hits and two walks in just 3 1/3 innings while striking out two in his team's 8-3 defeat against the Mets.

Teheran (8-6) turned in his shortest outing since also going 3 1/3 innings on May 14, ending a streak of four straight quality starts with Tuesday's hit barrage. He fell behind after just one batter, serving up a leadoff home run to Curtis Granderson in the first inning. Teheran owns a 2.57 ERA and 110:28 K:BB ratio in 129 1/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the Cubs Sunday.

News
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Wednesday that the team has no plans to move Evan Gattis to a different position when he returns, meaning Christian Bethancourt will likely be sent back to the minors when Gattis is activated, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

An excellent defensive catcher, Bethancourt has hit .281/.324/.313 in 32 at-bats over eight games since joining the Braves. There was speculation the team could be entertaining a positional shift of Gattis even before his back injury. However, it appears the Braves will stick with Gattis behind the plate and let Bethancourt continue to develop at the Triple-A level.
