White Sox first baseman Adam LaRoche hasn't had a very good showing at the plate this spring, batting .186 with 14 strikeouts in 15 games. However, LaRoche said there is no cause for concern since his spring numbers never look pretty.

“My swing is one where it seems to take me the full spring training and some years past that to get it dialed in,’’ LaRoche said, per the Chicago Sun-Times. “I can remember only two or three springs where with a week left I felt really good.

“The good news is I’ve been there a lot, so there is no need to panic. It comes and goes here for a while. But I’ll be good.’’

White Sox pitcher John Danks will be the team's No. 3 starter when the season begins, reports ESPN.com.

Danks posted a 11-11 record in 2014 with a 4.74 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 193 2/3 innings.

"I'm ready to go," Danks said. "I wish the season was starting tomorrow and we could play games that count. I have to finish up [spring] strong and hopefully hit the ground running in Kansas City."

The team also announced Hector Noesi will start in the team's home opener, making him the No. 4 starter.

"For me it's a normal game," Noesi said about the home opener. "I know it's the opening game at home, with the fans waiting for us. I just have to go there and do my job and get the win for the Opening Day."

Noesi posted a 8-12 record with a 4.75 ERA and 123 strikeouts in 172 1/3 innings last season.

News
White Sox relief pitcher David Robertson tossed one scoreless inning Sunday with 17 pitches, inducing three groundouts.

Robertson, who is working his way back from forearm soreness, threw 10 strikes and didn't allow a hit. Robertson felt strong after the outing, but won't throw on back-to-back days this week. He might pitch in another game and then throw a bullpen session, according to ESPNChicago.com.

"I felt good. Obviously I got into a couple of deep counts. I would have liked to have shortened those at-bats, but I felt really good and in the end I put up a zero," said Robertson to MLB.com. "I feel like I'm throwing the ball better than I was earlier in camp. I just needed a little time to get the soreness out, have my body recoup and get ready for the next outing."

White Sox pitcher Zach Putnam continues to make a push for a role in the bullpen. That journey continued Monday, throwing his fourth consecutive scoreless appearances after giving up eight runs over 3 2/3 innings in his first four games of spring training.

"I feel as if it's been there since the start of camp, but what changed was the frequency with which I was throwing it," Putnam said to MLB.com. "I was going into at-bats early on trying to kind of work on my fastball and polish my cutter just a little bit.

"When you are not fine with those pitches and guys are coming in taking massive hacks trying to hit homers, as they are sometime in Spring Training, I got hurt a lot. As soon as I figured it out and started throwing it more and setting up hitters the same way I set them up during the season, things fell into place for me."

Foot - Out until at least mid-April (Updated - 3/11/15)
News
White Sox pitcher Chris Sale threw six innings Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits with 13 strikeouts on 90 pitches against Class-A hitters.

"I felt really good. It was nice to get back on the mound and do what I am supposed to do, honestly," Sale told reporters after the outing, per MLB.com. "Stinks being on rehab the whole time so it was nice to be a pitcher again and be in a game situation. My breaking ball was kind of [lousy] today. I left it up a lot arm side, probably because I was rushing a little bit. But other than that, everything felt fine."

Sale is recovering from a foot injury suffered in late February and has thrown simulated games as a part of his rehab. He appears on track to make his regular-season debut April 12 and will make another start Monday in an attempt to throw about 100 pitches without issue.

Micah Johnson

News
White Sox second baseman Micah Johnson appears to be in the lead for the position when the season begins, reports MLB.com. Manager Robin Ventura likes what he's seen from Johnson enough to give him a vote of confidence at the position, even though nothing has been officially set.

"He's done well enough to kind of be the leading guy," said Ventura of Johnson, who had two hits in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Indians.

Third base coach Joe McEwing likes the progress Johnson has sowed on defense this spring.

"Initially what we wanted to do was try to slow things down because everything Micah does, he does fast," McEwing said. "Everything in his game is fast. Just, defensively, try to slow him down and allow him to focus on his feet and his hands and everything working together."
