Quadriceps - 60-day DL. Out until at least late August (Updated - 8/16/14)
News
The Reds cleared a spot on the 40-man roster Saturday by moving first baseman Joey Votto to the 60-day disabled list.

Votto has been out since July 8 with a strained left quad, and this move will keep him out until at least early September. He is still a few weeks from beginning baseball activities, so this likely does not change his timetable much.

Shoulder - Questionable for Aug. 19 at St. Louis (Updated - 8/19/14)
News
Reds closer Aroldis Chapman was not available out of the bullpen Monday against the Cardinals, as MLB.com reports he had a shoulder issue.

"He's just a little achy and it just doesn't make sense at all for us to keep running him out there," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "He was a little achy [Sunday]. I didn’t want to say anything but he was. By the time we knew there might be an issue, the damage was done yesterday. Our trainers say it's a day-to-day thing and that he could be ready to go soon. I'm not crossing him off our list for [Tuesday] by any means."

Chapman threw 28 pitches while walking four batters in his last appearance Sunday. Whether he is available Tuesday is likely to be determined at game-time.

News
Reds pitcher Mike Leake avoided the loss Monday against the Cardinals.

Leake allowed four runs on eight hits over seven innings of work. He struck out five and walked one during the outing. Leake had some struggles early. The Cardinals started a bit of a rally with two outs in the first inning. Leake allowed a walk, a double and a single, driving in two runs. They struck again in the third, after a single drove in Matt Carpenter. Leake was able to get through the next three innings unscathed, but allowed a fourth earned run in the seventh inning.

Leake left with the game tied, earning a no-decision. He’ll take on the Braves in his next start.
