Injuries
Shoulder - 60-day DL. Out until at least late August (Updated - 7/3/15)
News
Reds reliever Sean Marshall, who has not pitched in the majors in more than a year due to a shoulder injury, played catch Wednesday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

“He looked normal and not like a guy coming off shoulder surgery. Pretty remarkable,” manager Bryan Price said.

Marshall threw for 10 minutes from a distance of 60 feet.

"I don't know how many throws, probably 75 throws. It felt really good," Marshall said, per MLB.com. "From the first throw, the ball was smooth coming out of my hand. My shoulder felt really smooth. I didn't feel anything I was running into. I was very encouraged for day No. 1."

Marshall remains optimistic he will pitch in the majors this season.

"My endurance is great. My range of motion is good," Marshall said. "Those are a couple of things I was battling with coming out of the previous surgery. So far, everything is in a very positive direction, for sure.

"If I keep stepping in a positive direction, there's no doubt about it. I'd like to get back in the bullpen and be with my boys down there."

Oblique - 15-day DL. On Triple-A rehab assignment (Updated - 7/1/15)
News
The reports were positive following Reds starting pitcher Raisel Iglesias' rehab outing with Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, manager Bryan Price said. Iglesias will likely make two more rehab starts before joining the rotation after the All-Star break.

Iglesias (oblique) threw three scoreless innings Tuesday. He allowed one hit and one walk, while striking out three. He threw 27 of 43 pitches for strikes.

"Very sharp," Price said Wednesday, per MLB.com. "I think he threw 21 pitches in the first inning, worked around an error and a walk. So I guess that was 22 pitches over the next two innings, so very, very efficient. He felt great, no issues at all with the oblique.

"He'll get up to probably that neighborhood of 65-plus pitches in his next outing, but I'd say it's more likely post All-Star break that he'll be ready to re-enter the rotation."

News
Reds right-hander Johnny Cueto was excellent in his start against the Twins on Wednesday. Cueto went eight strong innings, allowing one run on four hits. He walked one and struck out eight, dropping his ERA to 2.84. He evened his record to 5-5 with this performance

This was Cueto's finest start since he twirled seven shutout innings on June 7. He retired 11 in a row at one point, and never really lost his composure in this one.

Cueto has pitched at least six innings in all but one of his 15 starts this season.

News
Reds rookie starter Michael Lorenzen was not effective in his outing on Friday against the Brewers. Lorenzen needed 90 pitches to get through four innings, in which he allowed three runs on five hits in the 12-1 blowout.

Lorenzen (3-3, 3.58 ERA) gave up a solo home run to Gerardo Parra to kick off the game. After giving up another run in the first, Lorenzen served up another solo home run in the second inning, this time to Aramis Ramirez. .

"I definitely could have done better with that, and pitch selection," Lorenzen said, per MLB.com. "I felt good, everything felt really good. I think sometimes you second-guess yourself and throw some pitches and there's no conviction behind them. That's what happens sometimes. You just learn from it."

Friday's performance marks the shortest start for Lorenzen. He came into the evening having allowed four earned runs over his previous three starts.
