News
Indians right-hander Cody Anderson was saddled with his first career defeat Saturday in Pittsburgh. But aside from the decision, it was another triumph.

Anderson earned his first complete game by pitching eight innings and allowing just one run on six hits. He walked none, fanned four and tossed a mere 92 pitches.

The impressive rookie, whose only hiccup was an RBI single to Neil Walker in the sixth, has given up just two runs in 23 2/3 innings over three starts. He actually raised his ERA to 0.76 in taking the loss. Walker came away impressed.

"He pounded the strike zone," he told the Northeast Ohio Media Group. "He pounded the strike zone with fastballs, sliders and changeups. We found early on that he was going to nibble in the zone. He was going to make us beat him."

News
Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco didn't allow a hit for 8 2/3 innings, coming one out away from history.

However, a base hit from Tampa Bay's Joey Butler ended the bid. Carrasco, of course, still came away with a victory in Cleveland's 8-1 win over the Rays. Carrasco allowed the run on the lone hit of the game. He walked two batters and struck out 13.

"Everything was great," Carrasco said, via MLB.com. "Everyone played good. I had my teammates, my defense. You know what? It's most important that we won today. That's most important."

Carrasco had only walked one batter entering the ninth inning before walking Asdrubal Cabrera and hitting Brandon Guyer with a pitch. After getting Grady Sizemore and Kevin Kiermaier out, Carrasco gave up his only hit of the game to Butler.

The 13 strikeouts are a season-high for Carrasco.

Carrasco now has a 3.88 ERA this season.
