News
On-again, off-again Indians right-hander Trevor Bauer was off again Thursday against the visiting White Sox.

Bauer spent too much time watching his pitches getting redirected over the fence. He allowed three home runs and had a devil of a time with three sixes - six runs on six hits in six innings. He did strike out nine.

His struggles began with a solo home run by Melky Cabrera in the fourth, but the damage was not complete that inning until Alexei Ramirez added a three-run blast. The third dinger in two innings was provided by Adam Eaton in the fifth.

Bauer has surrendered 26 runs over his last 34 1/3 innings in worsening his ERA on the year to 4.29. And he is claiming to be befuddled by his struggles.

"The definition of insanity is you try the same thing over and over and expect different results," Bauer told the Northeast Ohio Media Group. "I'm not insane so clearly there are some adjustments to be made. I guess I'll have to figure it out."

News
Indians lone all-star Jason Kipnis blasted his team Sunday after the completion of a four-game sweep at home to the White Sox in which Cleveland was outscored, 26-5.

The verbal lambasting came after a team meeting.

"We've been playing like [crap]," Kipnis told the Northeast Ohio Media Group. "There's no way around it. It's embarrassing. There's no fight. [We're] giving up early. We've got people worrying about their own things. Nobody is held accountable. It's just not the way we're going to do business here.

"We we held a team meeting today to rein the guys back in, get us back to where we need to be, get our heads straight, get our heads out of our [behinds] and start playing like a better baseball team."

News
Indians ace Corey Kluber was solid for seven innings in his start against the White Sox on Friday night. But he ran in to trouble in the eighth, as the Indians dropped the game 6-0.

Overall, Kluber allowed six runs on eight hits over seven-plus innings. He walked two and struck out seven, throwing 74 of his 109 pitches for strikes.

Kluber (5-11) allowed two of those runs over his first seven innings, including a solo home run to Jose Abreu in the sixth. But the wheels came off in the eighth, as he allowed the first four batters to reach before being pulled from the game. The White Sox would tack on four runs in that inning, all charged to Kluber.

Friday marked the first time since May 7 that Kluber allowed more than four runs in an outing. He has a 3.45 ERA over his last six starts following Friday's performance.

News
Struggling Indians right fielder Brandon Moss has been benched against White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana for the Friday night game in Cleveland.

Moss has actually performed better at the plate against southpaws this year. He owns a .266/.341/.468 slash line against lefties and is batting under .200 (40-for-208) against right-handers.

He also has just four hits in his last 37 at-bats to send his average on the season reeling to .218.

News
Indians starter Carlos Carrasco needed to be great in his matchup against White Sox ace Chris Sale on Saturday. Instead, he was terrible.

The result was a no-doubt defeat. Carrasco allowed three runs before recording an out and finished with six runs allowed on seven hits in four innings. He walked two and fanned five.

He was greeted by four consecutive singles, including a two-run job by Jose Abreu. A double and two-run single by Tyler Flowers capped a disastrous first inning. Carrasco then settled down for a bit, striking out three in a row at one point, but his night was all but done when he yielded the first career home run to Carlos Sanchez in the fourth.

"He couldn't reel it in," Indians manager Terry Francona said of Carrasco, per MLB.com. "He had to work so hard every inning. It seemed like he had one clean inning. His pitch count was so high after four, I just thought it would do him some good [to remove him], rather than have him go back out and maybe labor through another inning."

Carrasco, who managed five quality starts in his previous six outings, hasn't recorded a victory since July 1 and now owns a 4.26 ERA on the year.
