News
Indians pitcher Shaun Marcum struggled with his time on the mound during Monday's 10-8 loss to the Rangers.

Marcum only lasted 2 2/3 innings and gave up seven earned runs. He did strike out six batters but walked three and gave up four hits. Two of those went for home runs. Both of the homers occurred in the first inning.

Marcum recorded three consecutive outs in the second but was rocked by the Rangers in the third. He now has an ERA of 6.28. He received a no-decision for his appearance in this game.

"I put ourselves in a hole early," Marcum said to MLB.com. "Those guys did a great job of fighting and battling. The offense did a good job of coming back and giving us a chance."

This was Marcum's second start of the season.

His next start is projected for Saturday against the Mariners.

"Shaun left some balls middle and [you] saw where they went," Indians manager Terry Francona said. "The guys that he left balls up to, Beltre and Fielder, are very good offspeed hitters. Those are guys that, if you make a mistake, that's what they can do to it."

Finger - Questionable for May 31 start at Seattle (Updated - 5/27/15)
News
Indians starter Danny Salazar was forced to leave Tuesday's game against Seattle with a finger issue.

Salazar allowed three runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. He suffered a cut nail or blister on the middle finger of his right hand in the fifth inning, while throwing a hanging slider that was hit for a three-run homer, per Cleveland.com.

"I wanted to clean it out," Salazar said. "It was bleeding there. I was feeling it, but I was throwing the ball well."

Salazar walked three and struck out six. Assuming the finger doesn't change his schedule, he pitches next Sunday, at Seattle.

News
Indians reliever Nick Hagadone suffered his first loss since 2013, Tuesday against Texas.

Hagadone entered in the sixth and stranded the go-ahead run at third base. After retiring the first five batters he faced, Hagadone allowed the game-winning home run to Mitch Moreland with one out in the eighth.

"He pitched good. He got like five outs on nine pitches," manager Terry Francona said. "But he fell behind Moreland, and actually threw a ball, but because he was behind in the count Moreland cheated a little bit and hit it good. That's a shame because I thought he pitched really good."

It was the only baserunner he allowed in 1 2/3 innings.

Bauer (4-1) tossed six scoreless innings before serving up a solo home run in the seventh. He gave up a leadoff double in the eigth but managed to record two outs before being removed, and the runner was ultimately stranded on third base.

Bauer has given up just one earned run in each of his last three starts and now owns a 3.02 ERA and 55:22 K:BB ratio in 56 2/3 innings. He'll square off with the Mariners in Seattle on Friday.

News
Indians left fielder Michael Brantley has told Sports Time Ohio that his absence from the Saturday lineup has nothing to do with the back ailment that has plagued him this season and that he should be fine for Sunday.

Brantley has cooled after a torrid stretch. He is 3-for-20 after raising his average from .226 to .348 over a four-week period.

"I just told him, 'Hey, sleep in, relax, and just get yourself ready to maybe pinch-hit in about the seventh,' … and I'll do the same with [Jason Kipnis] here probably pretty soon," manager Terry Francona said to MLB.com. "I've talked to him, too. They're both really good about communicating back with me, and it helps me."

News
Indians pitcher Corey Kluber allowed one run on nine hits in eight innings of work on Saturday in Cleveland's 2-1 win over the Reds on Saturday.

Kluber's lone blemish came in the second inning when after allowing two consecutive hits to lead off the inning, Zack Cozart knocked a sacrifice fly into right field to plate Cincinnati's only run. Kluber settled in after that and struck out seven with no walks in the contest.

"Early on I was throwing a lot of strikes, but didn't have the best command," Kluber said to MLB.com. "I missed a few balls over the plate and they did a good job of taking advantage of it."

Kluber, now 2-5, has been on a roll in his last three starts. He has allowed just two runs in 25 innings with 37 strikeouts and just one walk. He will look to keep things rolling Thursday against the Mariners.
