Twins pitcher Ricky Nolasco threw a bullpen session on Sunday, as he attempts to come back from an elbow injury that has him on the disabled list.

GM Terry Ryan said on Inside Twins that Nolasco's bullpen "went well". The next step will be a minor league rehab assignment.

News
Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is frustrated with the team's slow start to the season. The Marlins have won three of 11 games to start the season.

"We're not giving ourselves a chance, it feels like," Stanton said, per the Miami Herald.  "We've got a positive vibe, but it is just not there. The fire is not there, it seems like. You always want to leave it. But you're out there, and it's game time, it's just nothing there -- it seems like."

"The game is nine innings," Stanton continued. "It's not two, three. ... We're not playing nine. There is no campfire to sit around and reminisce on things. We've got to play every night. We've got to go. The work is there. The process, we need to pick up. ... We've got to get it done. There is no, 'Hey, this is going to make us click now. This is going to do it for us now.' We've got to go. There is no time for that."

News
The difficulty transitioning into the outfield for Red Sox newcomer Hanley Ramirez could be seen Saturday against Baltimore, but John Farrell expressed an understanding that it will take time.

Ramirez misplayed a fly ball hit by Jimmy Paredes. He appeared to have a bead on it, but as the ball arrived at the wall, he made an unnecessary jump and it bounced off the heel of the glove.

"We knew it was going to be a transition for him," Farrell told WEEI radio. "There was going to be work to be done. ... To me, there's nothing alarming and the more games played, the more comfortable he's going to get."

Ramirez has certainly remained comfortable at the plate. He boasts a slugging percentage of .564.

News
Marlins closer Steve Cishek pitched a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday, but he's still looking for his first save of the year.

The Marlins have won just three games, and two have been by leads too big to give Cishek a save situation. The third was a tenth-inning walk-off win.

Cishek blew a save in his only opportunity. His ERA is currently 19.29, down from 108.00 after his first appearance and 33.75 after his second.

News
Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez (1-2) was smacked around for nine earned runs in 3 1/3 innings on Saturday and suffered the loss against the White Sox.

"I don't know. I'm not going to pitch and not try to allow homers," Sanchez said to MLB.com. "I just try to execute a pitch and help the team win. I'm not going out there trying to give up homers. I didn't last year. I just try to keep working hard this year. I don't know what's going on right now, but I need to figure it out."

The major blow was a Jose Abreu grand slam that highlighted a seven-run fourth inning for the White Sox.

"The ball's up again," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "Same thing in Pittsburgh. He has the ability to pitch up at times, but there's that fine line between pitching above the batter's bat and pitching at the batter's bat. If it's a tick higher, he probably gets the popups like he did earlier in the game."

Sanchez will look to get back on track Thursday against the Yankees.
