Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez put together a solid performance in his first game back from injury Friday, in an 8-1 win over the Giants.

Ramirez went 2 for 5 in the game before he was pulled for a defensive replacement late. He drove in one run with his eighth-inning single, one of his two singles in the game. He also struck out twice, and scored once.

Ramirez was out of the lineup for four days due to a hand injury. He is hitting .303/.465/.394 in the month of July.

News
After missing more than a month with a strained oblique, Cubs utility player Emilio Bonifacio came off the DL Tuesday. But the bigger news for Fantasy owners is that he started his first game back. With Arismendy Alcantara now up in the big leagues and Chris Coghlan and Justin Ruggiano crushing it in recent weeks, his starting role was less than assured.

And frankly, it still is. Bonifacio's start Tuesday was against a left-hander, Eric Stults, and the switch-hitter entered the day batting .362 against lefties compared to just .230 against righties. Given that Chris Coghlan, who bats left-handed, was out of the lineup Tuesday, this could have the makings of a platoon.

As an everyday player, Bonifacio's steals potential and versatility would make him a nice find in Rotisserie leagues. As a part-timer, he's nothing more than waiver fodder.

If you need steals, you certainly have nothing to lose by making a move for him now, but understand he's hardly an open-and-shut case.

With the addition of Kendrys Morales on Thursday, Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon revealed his first base plans moving forward, MLB.com reports. The team will use Morales as a designated hitter, with Logan Morrison and Corey Hart platooning at first base.

Morrison has started 31 games this season at first base, compared to only one start for Hart, who was sidelined for most of the season with a hamstring injury.

News
Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez had a tough start Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

Sanchez allowed five runs on 11 hits over 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four and walked one during the appearance. Sanchez had no issues early, cruising through the first four innings. Things got tough late. After Gerardo Parra and Martin Prado led off the fifth inning with back-to-back doubles, plating a run for Arizona. Didi Gregorius followed that up with a two-run home run.

Parra struck again in the sixth inning, singling in a run. Sanchez ran into similar issues in the seventh. After a run scored on three straight singles, Sanchez was pulled from the contest. He was replaced by Joba Chamberlain. Sanchez threw 104 pitches.

Opposing starter Trevor Cahill struggled quite a bit Wednesday, which led Sanchez to pick up a win. With the win, he improves to 7-4 on the year. His next start will come against the White Sox.
