News
Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas finally had a night to talk about Tuesday against the White Sox, homering twice in a 7-1 win. Coincidentally, it came on the same night the White Sox were hosting Greek Heritage Night at the ballpark.

"Oh, I knew," Moustakas said of the promotion. "I was telling everybody that today was my day. It just ended up working out that way."

Moustakas finished 3 for 5 with three RBI. He hit a solo home run off Scott Carroll leading off the second inning and a two-run homer off Eric Surkamp in the eighth inning.

He is batting .286 (14 for 49) with four home runs and 10 RBI in his last 15 games.

"He's starting to swing the bat pretty good," manager Ned Yost said of Moustakas. "We've seen him in spurts, it doesn't matter who's pitching. When he's right, he's putting good swings on the ball.

"Tonight he was really seeing the ball good, he was in a good position to hit and he was really driving the ball."

News
Despite the continued absence of injured Eric Hosmer from the Royals lineup Friday against Cleveland, designated hitter Billy Butler is not playing. That indicates how far he has fallen in the eyes of Ned Yost.

Yost has already announced that Butler will be losing playing time. The one-time slugger has just one hit in his last 15 at-bats and owns a stat line of .264/.319/.343 that pales in comparison to those compiled in seasons past.

News
Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer was out of the lineup for the second game in a row Friday against the Indians, as he continues to deal with a hand injury.

Hosmer has been out since leaving Wednesday's game due to ongoing issues with his hand, which have led to decreased grip strength. He remains day to day as a result of this issue.

Over his last two starts covering 12 2/3 innings, Duffy has allowed only two earned runs. He owns a 2.47 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP over 98 1/3 innings of work. His next start will come Wednesday at home against Minnesota.

Shields surrendered just one run on six hits in seven innings. He walked one and fanned seven while yielding only a first-inning single to Adam Dunn for the lone run. The performance was a strong one for Shields, who has been a bit inconsistent of late.

He will try to take his momentun and run with it Tuesday against Minnesota.
