News
Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw went the distance in a loss Saturday.

Kershaw gave up three runs on five hits over nine innings. He struck out 11 and did not issue any walks. Home runs were a big problem for Kershaw. He gave up a two-run shot to Ryan Braun in the fourth inning, and gave up a solo home run to Carlos Gomez in the sixth. The Brewers proved to be swing-happy otherwise, helping Kershaw get through the complete game. He threw 97 pitches during the outing.

With the loss, Kershaw dropped to 14-3. He'll take on the Mets in his next start.

News
The rollercoaster stretch for Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi continued Wednesday against lowly Texas.

Eovaldi followed three strong starts with a dud. He suffered through three straight poor outings previous to that.

The right-hander yielded five runs to the Rangers in the first two innings. He surrendered six hits in those frames, including doubles by J.P. Arencibia and Alex Rios that combined to plate four runs. Eovaldi settled down to pitch three shutout innings thereafter, but still lowered his record to 6-8. He has just one win since June 23.

He is set to start again Tuesday against the host Angels.

News
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday that third baseman Juan Uribe is progressing nicely from a strained hamstring, MLB.com reports.

"Uribe is feeling better," Mattingly said. "Mostly inside work, doing a little bit of baseball stuff. He'll be progressing toward the field, a lot like the first time he hurt it."

Uribe initially injured the hamstring earlier in the year and was placed on the disabled list Saturday after re-injuring it.

Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen earned his 35th save Tuesday despite giving up one earned run on two hits and a walk in his team's 8-6 victory over the Padres.

Jansen issued his first walk since July 29 to the first batter he faced Tuesday, and he watched a run come home with one out and a man on second after a bunt single led to a throwing error by the closer. He recorded another out before surrendering a two-out single, but the lead runner was tagged out to end the game. Jansen owns a 2.98 ERA and 81:14 K:BB ratio in 51 1/3 innings.
