News
Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett allowed two hits and five walks in five scoreless innings while striking out four Tuesday, but he didn't factor into the decision in his team's game against the Giants.

Beckett threw just 47 of his 90 pitches for strikes, but he was able to navigate through trouble and leave with a 1-0 lead, which was squandered in the sixth inning. He owns a 4.00 ERA and 9:6 K:BB ratio in nine innings over his first two starts. Beckett is slated to face the struggling Diamondbacks Sunday.

Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw took another step Thursday in his recovery from an upper back injury by throwing 35 pitches, including breaking balls, per MLB.com.

The next step will be throwing to live hitters before a likely rehab stint serves as the precursor to his return to a big league mound in mid-May.

Juan Uribe is a relative no-name in a star-studded Dodgers lineup, but he remained one of their best hitters in 2014 with a 3-for-5 performance in a Tuesday loss to San Francisco.

Uribe fell a triple short of the cycle. He opened the scoring with a home run off Tim Lincecum and followed with a double in the seventh and single in the 11th to raise his batting average to .379 on the season.

Dodgers pitcher Chad Billingsley is dealing with tendinitis in his elbow rather than any new ligament damage, MLB.com reports.

Billinsgley was shut down prematurely in Tuesday's bullpen session with discomfort in the elbow, but it appears he's avoided re-injuring himself in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The team will continue to move slowly with the pitcher.

News
Dodgers pitcher J.P. Howell suffered the loss Wednesday, giving up one earned run on one hit and two walks in two-thirds of an inning while striking out one in his team's 2-1 loss to the Giants.

Howell (1-1) was pulled from the game after surrendering an RBI single in the seventh inning, but the run would end up being the decider in the low-scoring affair. Howell owns a 1.23 ERA and 8:5 K:BB ratio in 7 1/3 innings.

News
Dodgers pitcher Paul Maholm gave up just one earned run on five hits and three walks in six innings while striking out two, but he didn't factor into the decision in his team's 2-1 loss to the Giants Wednesday.

Maholm managed to draw a walk himself and score a run in the sixth inning to knot the game up at 1-1. That took him off the hook for the potential loss, which he didn't deserve after his solid performance. Maholm owns a 4.97 ERA and 4:5 K:BB ratio in 12 2/3 innings over five appearances (two starts). HIs next start is scheduled to come Monday against the Phillies at home.

News
Dodgers starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu was on top of his game yet again Thursday, picking up his third win of the season as the Dodgers defeated the Giants 2-1.

Ryu allowed just four hits in seven scoreless innings of work, his fourth shutout outing in five trips to the mound. He allowed just four singles and a walk in the game, while racking up 12 groundball outs and three strikeouts.

Ryu has just one blemish on his record this season, as all six of his earned runs allowed came in the course of a single start. He carries a 3-1 record and 1.93 ERA into his next start, scheduled for Tuesday against the Phillies.

Jansen entered the game with a two-run lead and allowed a run on one hit and a walk, the fifth time he has been scored on in 11 outings. He struck out two batters and was able to work out of trouble to close out the win.

Jansen has had an interesting start to the season, posting a 5.00 ERA through his first 11 appearances. He has 17 strikeouts and five walks, while allowing 13 hits in nine innings of work. He has five saves in seven opportunities.

News
With four stolen bases Sunday, Dee Gordon solidified his place as one of the top waiver claims in Fantasy so far this season. But while I'm on board with him being must-own, I'm not ready to swear my undying loyalty to him.

Yeah, he's done what he's done over a small sample, but you could say that for any player making noise this time of year. At least Gordon has a top-prospect pedigree and minor-league track record backing up this performance. That buys him some credibility.

My hesitence is more about the Dodgers' intentions for him. They still haven't started him against a left-handed pitcher this year. They've faced only three, which is why it hasn't made a difference in Fantasy, but in the long run, if he's not playing every day, he'll be little more than a steals specialist.

Manager Don Mattingly has said from the beginning he wants one player to emerge as his second baseman, so if Gordon keeps performing like he has, he'll eventually become a full-timer. But until that happens, I'm not considering him a fixture in my lineup.
