News
After hitting a walk-off home run to defeat the Diamondbacks on Sunday, Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal said he hopes recent changes to his approach are starting to pay off, reports the Los Angeles Times.

"I've been trying to be more aggressively lately," he said.

Along with a shoulder issue, Grandal said his approach at the plate also led to his batting average dropping to .179 before raising it to .230.

"You have to look behind and who's hitting behind you," he said. "If you just get on first and you let the guy do his job, we're going to be good."

Dodgers reliever Yimi Garcia isn't getting many opportuntities for saves, but he's getting batters out.

Garcia has picked up two wins and a save this season, but most of his appearances have come during key moments in the seventh and eighth innings. While he doesn't get credit in the major stat categories, his performance has been close to perfect.

Garcia has a 0.66 ERA and hasn't given up a run since April 7.

Dodgers pitcher Carlos Frias allowed four hits and no runs over 5 1/3 innings of work during Friday's 8-0 win over the Diamondbacks.

Frias was making his first start of the season and he received a win for his effort. He has yet to allow a run over 7 2/3 innings of work this season. He also struck three and walked one during Friday's game.

Frias is competing for a permanent spot in the rotation, which will be determined on how well he pitches.

"It's like anything else – they're competing for the job there," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said, per the Orange County Register. "Obviously if you pitch well, your chances of getting the ball again are better. It's not that complicated."

His next expected start is scheduled for Wednesday at Milwaukee and Mattingly said it's likely he will receive another start, reports the Los Angeles Times

"I'm assuming that he will," he said.

It's the first time this season Guerrero has slotted higher than sixth.

The Dodgers are favorites (-145) against the Diamondbacks Sunday, per VegasInsider.com.

Puig was able to run Saturday and his hamstring held up well. This is a good sign that he'll be activated when eligible to return from the disabled list on May 10.

"It seems like he's doing more and more," manager Don Mattingly said. "All reports have been good."

Turner will make his fourth start of the year at the hot corner, batting second in the lineup.

The Dodgers also gave a rest to shortstop Jimmy Rollins, who is out of the lineup for just the third time this year. Enrique Hernandez will start just his fourth career game at short, batting eighth in the lineup.

"JT's been swinging good. Alex has been swinging good. Van Slyke's been swinging good. We’ve got a number of guys that are swinging good which is a good problem," manager Don Mattingly said per the Orange County Register." ... It’s a lot easier when you’re winning. I think guys are happier with what’s going on when the team’s playing well."

Dodgers center fielder Joc Pederson went 1 for 5 at the plate in Los Angeles' 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Pederson got things going in the seventh when he ripped the first pitch he saw from Evan Marshall over the center field wall, his fourth consecutive game with an at-bat in which he's hit a home run, becoming the first Dodger to accomplish that feat since Bill Sudakis in 1969, per the Elias Sports Bureau.

"Obviously, huge for us," manager Don Mattingly said after the game, per MLB.com. "It shows how strong Joc is, to go the opposite way, there's a lot there. I do think he's making adjustments."

Pederson is now hitting .292 with six home runs and 15 RBI in 65 at-bats.
