News
Marlins closer A.J. Ramos took the loss in Friday's 8-3, 11-inning loss to the Padres. Ramos entered the game with two outs in the 10th and the score tied. He got out of that inning, but fell apart in the 11th, when he issued a walk with the bases loaded to push across the go-ahead run.

He was immediately lifted from the game, but the three runners he was responsible for all came in to score.

In all, Ramos pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on just one hit--but he walked three batters in his outing. Ramos has now allowed six runs over his last six appearances--all coming in two games.

News
The Marlins have promoted left-handers Adam Conley and Chris Reed from Triple-A New Orleans and sent down catcher Tomas Telis to the same team.

Conley earned one start with Miami this season and allowed two runs in five innings. He is 9-3 with a 2.52 ERA in the minors in 2015 and will likely replace the just-traded Dan Haren in the rotation.

Reed, who came over from the Dodgers on July 15, has yet to pitch in the big leagues. He has allowed just one run in his last 9 2/3 innings pitched for the Zephyrs.

Telis is batting .182 in just 11 at-bats at the major league level this year.

News
Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton continues to take baby steps in his recovery from left hamate surgery. He has been cleared to take swings off a tee, per Fox Sports.

Dan Jennings has not ruled out the possibility of Stnaton returning next week when the Marlins close out a nine-game homestand.

"His hand looks good," Jennings said. "It's healed. The scar looks well. Now he's going to start off the tee ... he'll progress at his timetable. It's good to see him making strides the right way."

News
Tom Koehler was hurt once again by an old adversary, as the Marlins starter made another mistake to Washington's Bryce Harper, who delivered the big blow in a 7-2 Miami defeat.

Koehler had given up just two runs through four innings, but ran into trouble in the fifth when he allowed back-to-back singles to Yunel Escobar and Jayson Werth. Harper followed with a titanic three-run homer into the second deck -- it's the fourth time Koehler has allowed a homer to Harper this season.

Koehler (8-7) has now lost three of his last four decisions despite his ERA dropping from 3.52 to 3.38.

News
Marlins rookie starter Jose Urena struggled in his latest outing against the Padres on Saturday night. Urena allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits over five innings. He struck out two and did not walk a batter in the 5-3 loss.

Urena was unable to get into a groove in this one. He allowed an early run in the first inning, followed by a four spot in the third, thanks in part to a fielding error.

Urena (1-5, 4.37 ERA) was making his first appearance for the Marlins since June 28. He was throwing well before that demotion, allowing a total of seven runs in his previous four starts.

News
Marlins pitcher David Phelps had a decent start against the Padres on Friday, but was left with a no-decision in the extra-innings 8-3 loss. Phelps allowed three runs on seven hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out two, and left the game with the score tied 3-3.

Phelps was given an early 2-0 lead in the first, but he allowed a run to score in the third and two more in the fourth to give the Padres the 3-2 advantage. He did not factor in the decision, as the Marlins were able to push across the tying run in the ninth before losing in 11 innings.

Phelps made five appearances--four starts--in July. He went 0-3 with a 3.12 ERA.

Yelich, who went 2 for 5 with a pair of runs scored in the game, as cooled off recently after a hot stretch. Still, he's batting .289 over his past 10 games.
