News
Twins starter Ervin Santana picked up his first home victory since returning from an 80-game suspension, striking out 10 Astros on Sunday in a 7-5 triumph.

Santana had been 0-1 with an ERA approaching 10.00 in three starts at home, but was in complete control during his seven innings of work, handcuffing the free-swinging Astros and allowing just six hits.

It was the 15th double-digit strikeout game of Santana's career, and it ended a four-game losing streak for the pitcher.

News
After undergoing an MRI on his hamstring Wednesday, Twins designated hitter Miguel Sano hopes to play through the hamstring issue, reports MLB.com.

The hamstring strain caused him to miss last Friday's contest, but he is in Wednesday's lineup.

"I'm trying to not run too hard or too fast," Sano said. "I can feel it when I'm on base."

News
The Twins gave starter Tyler Duffey a four-run cushion to play with Tuesday night - against Chris Sale, no less - and he threw almost all of it away.

He also threw away any chance of a victory by going only 4 2/3 innings against the visiting White Sox and yielding three runs on three hits with three walks and two strikeouts.

Duffey faced the minimum number of batters through four on one hit, then retired the first two in the fifth. But two singles and three walks that followed resulted in three runs and forced his departure.

The rookie right-hander had allowed only four runs in 21 previous innings. His poor effort raised his ERA to 4.56.

News
Paul Molitor recently claimed that Twins veteran Glen Perkins would not return to the closer role until he had fully recovered from the back spasms that had been plaguing him.

Consider Perkins fully recovered.

The southpaw did not, however, pitch like it. He allowed one run on three hits in the ninth to the White Sox in securing his 32nd save. He induced Jose Abreu to fly out to end it.
