Twins pitcher Kyle Gibson had a rough start Wednesday against the Tigers.

Gibson allowed four runs on seven hits over six innings. He struck out three and walked three during the outing. Gobson got himself in trouble immediately. After quickly getting two outs in the first, Gibson allowed a single, walk and two straight run-scoring singles. He had similar struggles in the second inning. With two outs, Gibson gave up a run-scoring single and a run-scoring double during the inning. He would settle in at that point, tossing four straight scoreless innings before leaving the game. 

Despite the poor performance, Gibson picked up a win. He improved to 12-11. Gibson will take on the Diamondbacks in his next start.

Twins pitcher Trevor May got knocked around Saturday against the Indians.

May allowed seven runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out three and walked two during the outing. May opened the game with a scoreless inning, but quickly got himself in trouble in the second. With two outs, and two men on base, May gave up a two-run triple against Mike Aviles. Michael Bourn would plate Aviles on a single. May would give up another run in the third on another run-scoring single. The fifth proved to be problematic as well. With two outs, and two men on base, May gave up a three-run shot to Yan Gomes. He was pulled from the game at that point. 

With the loss, May dropped to 3-5. He’ll take on the Tigers in his next start.

Twins outfielder Oswaldo Arcia excelled in his return to action Friday, going 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBI in his team's 5-4, 10-inning victory over the Indians.

Arcia put the first run of the game on the board in the third inning, slugging a solo home run to right field. He then added an RBI single in the seventh inning to bring his team within one before the Twins plated a runner in the ninth and another in the 10th to pick up a walkoff win. Arcia has hit .237/.308/.469 with 19 home runs and 54 RBI in 337 at-bats.

Twins reliever Glen Perkins has been shut down due to a forearm strain and nerve irritation, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

The news is actually somewhat positive for Perkins. His throwing elbow and UCL have no damage at this time, and he's expected to be ready for Spring Training. Perkins finished the year with a 3.65 ERA over 61 2/3 innings.

Twins closer Glen Perkins will at least be shut down Wednesday, if not for the year, with neck and shoulder injuries, per MLB.com. The results of an exam by doctors has yet to be revealed. Jared Burton will serve as the closer against Detroit on Wednesday and should remain in that role while Perkins is down.

Hughes allowed four runs on 10 hits over seven innings. He struck out five and did not issue any walks during the outing. Hughes gave up two of his runs in the fourth inning. With two outs, Hughes allowed a double, followed by two run scoring singles. Michael Brantley added to the scoring in the sixth, by hitting a solo home run to lead things off. Hughes allowed his final run in the seventh. After a leadoff double, Michael Bourn was able to plate a run with a sac fly. 

The Twins managed a comeback, giving Hughes the no-decision. He’ll take on the Tigers in his next start.
