News
Twins right-hander Mike Pelfrey came away with another disappointing outing on Saturday. Pelfrey lasted just four-plus innings against the Royals. He allowed three runs on seven hits, while walking three and striking out three. Pelfrey was able to escape with a no-decision, however, as the Twins held on to beat the Royals 5-3.

The Twins staked Pelfrey to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and he was able to keep the Royals off the board for the first four innings. But, after the Twins tacked on another run, Pelfrey allowed the first three men to face him in the fifth to reach base before Lorenzo Cain singled in a pair. Pelfrey was then lifted for a reliever, but another run would come into score before the inning was over.

"I thought my stuff was way too good to not get anybody out in the fifth," Pelfrey said, per MLB.com. "I thought I had good stuff but didn't execute pitches in there in the fifth. But the bullpen picked me up and the offense scored another run and we were able to win. So I need to be better, but these guys picked me up."

Pelfrey's ERA sits at 3.94 now, and he has allowed 11 runs over six innings in his last two starts.
