Twins pitcher Yohan Pino was unable to factor into the decision Sunday afternoon at home against the White Sox. The right-hander pitched well and yielded two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out six over six innings of a 4-3 win.

Pino has permitted two earned runs or fewer in three of his last four starts. he owns a 4.38 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP over seven starts (39 innings). His next start will come Sunday against the White Sox again, this time in Chicago.

Twins pitcher Logan Darnell was rocked in Saturday's loss, giving up seven earned runs on 11 hits in five-plus innings and striking out seven in his team's 7-0 defeat against the White Sox.

Darnell (1-1) was making his first start of the season with the Twins, and he was able to hold the opposition to two runs through four innings before the White Sox swatted a two-run home run in the fifth and scored three more runs in the sixth (all charged to Darnell). He isn't scheduled for another start and could be optioned before Sunday's game.

Twins pitcher Kevin Correia was blasted by the White Sox Friday.

Correia ran into trouble almost immediately. After giving up two singles to open the game, Correia allowed a three run home run to Jose Abreu to break things open. After a scoreless second inning, Alexei Ramirez took Correia deep for a solo shot to open the third. Gordon Beckham would also plate a run on an error. Correia would allow two additional runs to score in the fourth inning before leaving the game.

Correia allowed seven runs, six earned, on 10 hits over four innings of work. He walked two and did not record any strikeouts. With the loss, Correia dropped to 5-13 on the year. He will take on the Royals in his next start.

Santana had just one hit in the game, but he made it count, clubbing a two-run home run in the eighth inning in a failed effort to spark a rally. He went 1 for 3 overall with one strikeout in addition to his two RBI.

Santana hasn't provided much power this season, as he is hitting .325/.361/.465 with three home runs in 157 at-bats.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire expects first baseman Joe Mauer (oblique) to be on a rehab assignment by the time the team returns for a two-game homestand Aug. 5-6 against the Padres, according to the Pioneer Press.

"By the time we get back from this roadtrip, he'll be on a rehab (assignment)," Gardenhire said Sunday. "We need him desperately. He's a big cog in our lineup. We need to get him back on the field. He's important for our baseball team, not only for what he does on the field but for the whole package, him being around the guys, being a calming influence. That will be huge for us."
