Twins pitcher Ricky Nolasco flew back to Florida to continue his rehab and will head back to Minnesota on Thursday, MLB.com reports. Nolasco is working his way back from a right elbow strain and remains without a timetable. He posted a 5.90 ERA and 72:28 K:BB ratio in 103 2/3 innings.

The Twins optioned pitcher Yohan Pino to Triple-A Rochester Friday, one day after picking up his first major-league win.

Pino ended up allowed a 4.39 ERA in 26 2/3 innings over five starts with the twins, and could be back in the rotation after the All-Star break.

Twins pitcher Kyle Gibson earned a win Wednesday, surrendering seven hits and one walk in six scoreless innings while striking out three in his team's 8-1 victory over the Mariners.

Gibson (8-7) was removed after six innings despite throwing just 91 pitches and having an eight-run lead with which to work. He's delivered scoreless outings in five of his last nine starts. Gibson owns a 3.92 ERA and 53:29 K:BB ratio in 101 innings going into the All-Star break.

Twins shortstop Danny Santana flew to the team's spring complex in Florida to work out for a few days before starting a minor-league rehab assignment with Class A Fort Myers, MLB.com reports Friday. Santana is working his way back from a deep bone bruise in his left knee. The Twins have not announced a date for his first rehab game.

Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony confirmed that first baseman Joe Mauer will not be able to return immediately after the All-Star break, MLB.com reports.

Mauer has showed some slight improvement in his recovery from an oblique injury, but remains without a timetable for return.

"They're optimistic about his recovery," Antony said. "Things are going well. They're still trying to work on getting the soreness out of there. Until he does that he can't really get back to the things he needs to. So right now, there is no timetable."

Twins pitcher Phil Hughes earned a win Tuesday, giving up eight hits in 7 1/3 scoreless innings while striking out eight and walking none in his team's 2-0 victory over the Mariners.

Hughes (9-5) had hit a bit of a rough patch heading into Tuesday's start, giving up 17 earned runs in 19 innings over his previous three outings. He turned things around in this game, turning in his fourth scoreless start of the season. Hughes owns a 3.70 ERA and 102:11 K:BB ratio in 116 2/3 innings. He's scheduled to wrap up his first half Sunday in Colorado.
