News
Twins shortstop Pedro Florimon was held out of the lineup for precautiounary reasons Friday one day after leaving a game with a sprained right finger.

"He had a little bit of swelling but he was throwing last night," Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony told MLB.com Friday. "He basically just jammed it, which caused a little bit of swelling. We did X-rays and they were negative. So he should be fine."

"He'll be available off the bench," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "I'm just happy he came in here saying he feels good and is ready to go."

Florimon has hit .250/.318/.354 with two home runs and six stolen bases in 96 at-bats this year.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Wednesday starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey remains on track to start Sunday against the Tigers after being limited to two innings Tuesday because of a rain delay. Gardenhire, however, didn't rule out the possibility of Pelfrey pitching before his start Sunday.

"We wouldn't want to do that with him, but we've talked about different scenarios," Gardenhire said of Pelfrey starting Friday, per MLB.com. "Maybe sling him in the middle before somebody else starts. But we'll talk about that and straighten that out as we go along here."

News
The Twins announced Wednesday they purchased the contract of outfielder/first baseman Chris Colabello from Triple-A Rochester. Colabello played at first base, left field, right field and DH for Rochester.

His slash line through 46 games is .358/.417/.659/1.076. He also had 12 home runs, 17 doubles and 39 RBI. Colabello played seven years of independent baseball before joining the Twins' organization in 2012.

"He's been hitting it, absolutely hitting it out there," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "We'll see what he's got (Wednesday against the Braves). A left-hander on the mound (Atlanta's Paul Maholm), a good time for a right-hander to be out there. That's what we brought him up here for, to be a right-handed bat. Go get 'em."

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said prior to Wednesday's game at Atlanta he was tempted to move Aaron Hicks up in the lineup, but opted against it because he said Hicks was comfortable batting lower in the lineup. Although the Twins lost 8-3, Gardenhire's decision to keep Hicks batting seventh paid off.
