Yankees closer David Robertson recorded his 27th save Tuesday despite surrendering two earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one in the ninth inning of his team's 12-11 win over the Rangers.

Robertson started the inning off with a strikeout, but a single, walk and sacrifice put two runners in scoring position with two outs. After the next batter walked to load the bases, Elvis Andrus delivered a two-run single. Robertson walked the bases loaded again but was able to retire the next batter to finish off the game. He owns a 2.88 ERA and 68:14 K:BB ratio in 40 2/3 innings.

Shoulder - 60-day DL. Out until at least early August (Updated - 6/13/14)
News
Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda is set to make a rehab start Sunday, though his destination has yet to be determined.

Pineda, who threw 45 pitches in a simulated game Tuesday, has been out with a shoulder injury since late April. His minor league rehab is expected to last about a month.

"I think you've got to get him to where he can go 90 pitches, and you feel good abot it (and) where he's not fatiguing," Joe Girardi told the New York Daily News. "I think if you get there, then he's a guy you think about."

Pineda compiled a 2-2 record and 1.83 ERA in four starts before a 10-game suspension from Major League Baseball for his use of pine tar on the mound. He sustained the injury upon his return.

One might have asked what Yankees leadoff hitter Brett Gardner could do for an encore to his two-homer game Monday against Texas. He answered that question in style Tuesday.

Gardner slammed four hits, including a solo homer to begin the game, and added two doubles with three runs in a shootout win over the Rangers. He is 7 for 10 with five runs scored in his last two games. His .455 slugging percentage is a season-high.

News
Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka is nearing the three-week mark from a platelet-rich plasma injection and is starting to feel "better and better," manager Joe Girardi told MLB.com on Monday.

Tanaka stayed in New York for treatment while the team traveled to Texas to start a road trip. Tanaka went on the DL on July 9 with right elbow inflammation and a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. He's hoping to avoid Tommy John surgery. He posted a 2.51 ERA over 129 1/3 innings prior to the injury.

News
Yankees pitcher Shane Greene failed to pick up a quality start Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Greene gave up three runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out two and walked two during the outing. Greene got into some trouble in the first, but seemed to settle in after allowing one run. He managed three scoreless innings before trouble struck in the fifth. Juan Francisco gave Toronto a 2-0 lead on a solo shot during the inning. Greene came out for the sixth, but allowed a single and a run-scoring double. He was removed from the game at that point.

The Yankees were able to mount a comeback, giving Greene the no-decision. His next start will come against the Red Sox.
