Knee - Questionable for July 30 at Reds (Updated - 7/29/15)
News
Left knee discomfort has resulted in Pirates right fielder Gregory Polanco being removed from the game Wednesday at Minnesota. Jeff Decker took his place in the fourth inning.

Polanco had finally heated up at the plate, hitting safely in 16 of his previous 18 games. He was 0-for-2 Wednesday before going down. The outfielder had been icing his knee after games, and manager Clint Hurdle thought the injury happened in Tuesday's contest.

"I actually think he might have aggravated it late [Tuesday] night, on a play near the wall," Hurdle said. "And he just couldn't get loose today. We didn't feel it made any sense for him to push it."

News
Pirates starter Francisco Liriano allowed a season-high 10 hits on Wednesday, but he came away with his seventh win of the season. Liriano went 5 2/3 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) with four strikeouts and no walks in the 10-4 win over the Twins.

Liriano (7-6, 2.92 ERA) got off to a shaky start, as the Twins had a 3-1 lead after the third inning. But he was able to settle in from there, as he gave his club a chance to rally and take the lead in the middle innings. A high pitch count--106 pitches through two outs in the sixth--led to Liriano's early exit, costing him a chance at a quality start.

The veteran left-hander is 3-0 with a 2.13 ERA over his past six starts.
