News
Pirates pitcher Vance Worley was knocked around Monday against the Braves.

Worley allowed six runs, five earned, on nine hits over six innings of work. He struck out eight and walked two. The Braves wasted no time getting to Worley. Jason Heyward and Andrelton Simmons led off the game with back-to-back home runs, putting Worley down by two immediately. It would only get worse from there. A walk and two singles brought in the next run. Worley was able to get a strikeout for the first out of the game, but followed that up with another run-scoring single and a walk. A force out and an error led to the other two runs coming home. Worley would settle in and throw five scoreless innings, but the damage had already been done.

With the loss, Worley dropped to 5-3. He’ll take on the Brewers in his next start.

Pirates first baseman Pedro Alvarez is unlikely to play third base again this season in anything but an emergency situation, MLB.com reports.

"Right now, I think we have a better option in Josh Harrison," manager Clint Hurdle said Tuesday. "This season, right now -- to put the best team that I can on the field every night, we have better options. We have to find [Alvarez] some at-bats. Is third base the optimum place to get them? No, it is not."

News
For Josh Harrison, everything's coming up Milhouse.

Just a couple weeks after declaring him an everyday player (not that he had been playing any less than every day since mid-May, but the declaration spoke volumes), the Pirates shifted him to shortstop to fill in for the injured Jordy Mercer. After three straight starts there, he's now played the position six times this year, and the CBSSports.com requirement for gaining eligibility in-season is five.

In other words, you can now play Harrison at the weakest position in Fantasy, shortstop. Let's all celebrate and have a good time.

That's in addition to second base, third base and the outfield, for what it's worth, not that you should aim to play him at any of those positions when he's eligible at shortstop. To put it in perspective, he's the No. 4 third baseman in Head-to-Head points leagues since May 18, which is about the he become an every day player. Pretty good, right? Well, he's the No. 1 shortstop during that same period.

Yup.

Cole was making his first start since July 4 after being activated from the disabled list earlier in the day. He surrendered RBI singles in the first and sixth innings, and his offense was able to get both runs back in the eighth. Cole owns a 3.69 ERA and 84:33 K:BB ratio in 92 2/3 innings. Marte struck in the second inning. He took an 84 mph slider out to right center for a solo shot. He struck again in his next at-bat, hitting a 90 mph fastball out to center for another solo home run. Marte would later double. He finished 3 for 4, with two runs scored and two RBI.
