News
Pirates starter Vance Worley ran into some bad luck Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Worley allowed four runs, one earned, on seven hits over six innings. A throwing error in the third inning started the fun. Worley was unable to pitch around the leadoff error, and allowed two runs during the inning. Another throwing error led to two additional runs in the sixth inning. Worley was only charged with one of the four runs.

With the win, Worley improved to 3-1 on the year. His next start will come against the Giants.

News
Pirates pitcher Charlie Morton couldn’t pick up a quality start Friday against the Rockies.

Morton allowed four runs on seven hits over six innings. He struck out three and walked one during the outing. Morton was solid throughout most of the game. Other than a run-scoring double in the third inning, Morton has solid until his final inning of work. Morton came in to pitch in the seventh inning, and immediately ran into trouble. He allowed two doubles to open the frame, and followed that up with a single. At that point, Morton was pulled from the game. After he left, both of his inherited runners came around to score.

With the loss, Morton dropped to 5-10 on the year. His next start will come against the Giants.

Pirates pitcher Francisco Liriano turned in a strong performance Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Liriano struggled with his control early, walking two batters in the first inning. He also hit Carl Crawford with a pitch the following inning. Other than that, Liriano looked great early. He didn’t allow a hit until there was one out in the fifth inning. Liriano gave up two hits to open the sixth, and allowed a run to score on a ground out. He was able to pitch one more inning before being removed.

Liriano gave up one run on four hits over seven innings. He walked two and struck out four. With the win, Liriano improved to 2-7. His next start will come against the Giants.
