The Padres recalled infielder Jedd Gyorko from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday after placing infielder Cory Spangenberg on the 15-day disabled list. 

Since his demotion to the minors, Gyorko is batting .279 with one double, four home runs, nine RBI, eight runs, seven walks and 11 strikeouts in 16 games.

Norris first went yard in the fourth inning on a two-run shot. He followed that up with a solo homer in the sixth innning. Both homers were hit off of Chase Anderson. 

For Norris, this gives him 11 home runs for the year. Norris now has hit four home runs in his past 10 games. For the season, Norris has a .246/.293/.446 slash line.

Padres starter Andrew Cashner was strong in his outing on Saturday against the Diamondbacks. Cashner limited Arizona to two runs on eight hits over seven innings. He struck out six and did not walk a batter, lowering his ERA to 4.22 in the 7-2 victory.

Cashner gave up a pair of runs in the third inning for the only damage done against him. The right-hander was able to limit the damage against him, depsite scattering the eight hits.

Cashner (3-9) picked up his first win since May 27 on Saturday.

Padres left fielder Justin Upton had a nice night at the plate on Saturday. Upton went 2 for 3 with a key two-run home run, as the Padres topped the Diamondbacks, Upton's former team, 7-2.

Upton's home run, his 14th of the year, broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning. It was his first longball in his last 12 games, and just his second in a month. 

The struggles for Upton go beyond the power department, however, as he is batting just .243 with 14 strikeouts in his last 10 games.

It's so far, so good in regard to the rehab of Padres outfielder Wil Myers, who underwent left wrist surgery on June 18.

Myers is hoping he can resume baseball activities in as quickly as 4-6 weeks after having his stitches and soft cast removed.

"[The doctor] said it looked good, there is no bruising or discoloration," Myers told MLB.com. "So that is a good sign. He was very optimistic."

Padres left-hander Cory Luebke continues to progress from a pair of Tommy John surgeries, and he is moving his rehab assignment to Triple-A El Paso, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Luebke, who hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2012, has made six rehab appearances so far in Class A and Double-A. He has allowed two hits and three runs, and owns a 4.50 ERA.

The home run ball was the undoing for Padres pitcher Ian Kennedy during Tuesday's 5-0 loss to the Mariners.

Kennedy allowed four runs on four hits over five innings of work. He also struck out five and walked one during the outing. He surrendered a solo home run to Mike Zunino in the third inning and a two-run home run to Brad Miller in the fourth.
