News
Veteran starter Tim Hudson had his worst outing of the season Sunday, lasting just 3 2/3 innings in the Giants' 11-2 loss to the Rockies.

Hudson was hit hard early and often, allowing a season-high eight earned runs on six hits, including seven of the eight runs Colorado scored in the decisive fourth inning.

"Today was a tough day, especially for me," Hudson said to CSN Bay Area. "I just put us in a pretty bad spot. It's a long day yesterday and a lot of innings for the 'pen. I would've liked to go further in this game. I just wasn't very good today. They capitalized on some mistake pitches on my part. I just didn't feel good. It's hard to say ... I just didn't have real good stuff. The results of the game probably are very indicative of that."

Hudson saw his ERA rocket to 5.04 after the rough start as he fell to 2-4 on the season.

News
Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford has provided the spark San Francisco needs in the lineup so far this season. Crawford's power numbers haven't been much different from his other seasons, manager Bruce Bochy said per MLB.com.

"When you look at a guy having success, that's usually the case," Bochy said. "You look at his history, he's always got out to a nice start."

Crawford has a a career high .382/.382/.514 slash line to begin the season and came into Monday's game 10 for his last 14 at the plate.

"That's why he was off yesterday, to give him some more rest so he stays strong," Bochy said before Monday's game.

News
Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong was solid in Wednesday's win over the Brewers. The right-hander limited the Brewers to just one run on six hits, striking out five. He did not issue a walk, as 73 of his 110 pitches went for strikes.

The only run he gave up came on an RBI-single in the fourth inning, which actually put the Giants down 1-0. But the offense came alive in the fifth, and Vogelsong was dominant the rest of the way to pick up his fourth win.

"He's so mentally tough. He did go through a tough time there," manager Bruce Bochy said to CSN Bay Area. "He's gotten in a better routine and he's throwing the ball as well as anybody. What a great job he did today. Good for him."

Vogelsong (4-2) has been strong in the month of May. He's allowed just four runs in five starts this month, lowering his ERA to 4.24. He'll look to keep rolling Monday against the Pirates.
