News
Rangers starter Colby Lewis had a rather bizarre outing on Monday. The right-hander gave up seven runs on 10 hits over six innings, but still came away with his 12th win of the season (and third in a row) in the 12-9 victory over the Astros.

Lewis (12-4) was down early, as he gave up two runs in the top of the first on a Carlos Correa home run. But the Rangers exploded for six runs in the bottom half. Lewis gave up another home run, this time a solo shot to Luis Valbuena in the second inning.

The big blow against Lewis came in the fourth, after the Rangers had just put up a five-spot, when Jason Castro blasted a grand slam to cut the Rangers' lead to 11-7.

Lewis increased his ERA to 4.68 after the rough outing. It's the second time in his pas six starts that he allowed more than three runs--the previous time was a 10-run meltdown on July 5.

Overall on the night, Beltre went 4 for 5 with three RBI and two runs scored in the big win. He joins Babe Herman and Bob Meusel as the only players to record three cycles in a career since 1900.

Making his Rangers debut, starter Cole Hamels battled on Saturday against the Giants, but was left with a no-decision. Hamels allowed five runs on eight hits over 7 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out six, throwing 61 of his 97 pitches for strikes. The Rangers wound up losing 9-7 in extra innings.

The Rangers gave Hamels a 2-0 lead after the first inning, but he allowed three runs to score in the third, including a solo home run by Brandon Belt.

Hamels settled in after that, putting up zeroes over the next four frames. But he gave up another solo home run in the seventh--this time to Buster Posey. He started the eighth, but was pulled after putting a runner on second with two outs. That run (and two more) would end up scoring.

This was Hamels' first start since tossing a no-hitter against the Cubs last weekend. Despite the shaky outing on Saturday, he received a standing ovation from the home crowd as he departed the game.
