Rangers pitcher Colby Lewis added a win to his record even though his performance in Friday's 10-9 victory over the Yankees wasn't his best.

Lewis gave up five earned runs in 6 2/3 innings of work. Four of those runs came in the fourth inning, with three on a home run from Didi Gregorius. This is the second consecutive game that Lewis, 35, has allowed five earned runs.

Lewis allowed 12 earned runs in his first seven starts but has given up 10 in his past two. Lewis now has an ERA of 3.49.

His next start is projected for May 27 against the Indians.

News
Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor has done well since his demotion to Triple-A Round Rock, batting .281 with three home runs and nine RBI in nine games.

However, despite his success, his recall might not be so quick since Tommy Field has provided stability at second base for Texas, according to manager Jeff Banister.

"If you give a guy like that a timeline and he hasn't met expectations, and the timeline passes, I don't think that's appropriate," Banister said of Odor, per MLB.com. "We told Rougned to focus on defense, turn the double play especially, get the hands and feet together. On offense, stay aggressive, swing at pitches you can hit. You're not going to eliminate chasing [bad pitches], but slow it down and control the strike zone. Get back to using left and center field.

"Go back to being that gritty type of player that other teams don't like, but players on your team love. Have that edge that everybody said he had. He needs to focus on being a minor-league player trying to get back to the big leagues. That's what will get him that edge."

Field has hit .267 with one double, two home runs and five RBI in 10 games since his promotion from Double-A. But it seems Banister is really happy with his effort in the field.

"He has stabilized us defensively and given us some pretty good hits in key situations," Banister said. "His at-bats have been calm. He has been stabilizing in a spot where we needed somebody to step up and play well."

News
The return of Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton as early as Monday in Cleveland could result in changes for hot-hitting Delino DeShields.

He is making it quite difficult for that move to be a benching.

"I hope he continues to make it challenging," Jeff Banister told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "We'll do everything we can as long as the young man continues to produce and play. These things usually have a way of working themselves out."

DeShields could find himself at second base, where Rougned Odor struggled and Tommy Field and Adam Rosales have split time. DeShields has yet to play there this season, but the Rangers would likely want to keep him and his .279/.405/.393 slash line in the lineup.

Rangers pitcher Wandy Rodriguez gave up only one earned run during Thursday night's 3-1 victory over the Red Sox.

Rodriguez went 6 2/3 innings and allowed four hits and two walks. Rodriguez struck out five batters and improved to 2-2 for the season.

For Rodriguez, this game was a nice rebound after giving up five earned runs in his previous start. Rodriguez now holds a 3.38 ERA for the season.

"A really nice night by Wandy," Rangers manager Jeff Banister said. per MLB.com. "That's what we have been seeing from him. He moved the [sinker] in and out, the breaking ball played well, he keeps hitters off balance. His ability to work quick and get through their lineup was big."

His next start is projected for May 26 against the Indians.

Rangers reliever Ross Ohlendorf recorded his first career save Friday against the Yankees after reliever Shawn Tolleson picked up saves Wednesday and Thursday against the Red Sox. Tolleson needed 38 pitches to get through his two save chances against Boston, which is why he was unavailable Friday.

"More than anything else, Tolleson was down because he had pitched back-to-back games and we didn't want to use him a third game," Rangers manager Jeff Banister said, per MLB.com.

Tolleson and Ohlendorf have closed out games for the Rangers since Neftali Feliz was removed as closer following his third blown save last Saturday against the Indians.

Shoulder - 15-day DL. On Triple-A rehab assignment. Expected to return May 25 (Updated - 5/23/15)
News
The Rangers will reportedly activate outfielder Josh Hamilton on Monday, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Hamilton, who has spent the beginning of the year on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, will fly to Cleveland on Sunday to meet the team before their series against the Indians.

"Josh is physically and game-ready to get started," general manager Jon Daniels said to the Dallas Morning News. "The team is playing well, and we're looking forward to welcoming him to the club."

Hamilton is hitting .250 with three doubles and two home runs in 28 at-bats for Triple-A Round Rock as a part of his rehab assignment.

"I'm excited about it," Hamilton said. "It's good to work hard and get back and get healthy and get mentally focused and get back to where I want to be."

One might have figured that hot-and-cold Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo had gone from hot to cold with his recent 3-for-21 slide.

Not so fast.

Choo played a huge role in a Saturday trouncing of the Yankees. He did his damage in a monster third inning, getting it started with an RBI single and hitting a three-run homer to end it. He also walked and scored in the sixth.

His slugging percentage is at .456.

A couple of injred Rangers pitchers are making strides towards a return. Left-hander Martin Perez is scheduled to make his first start in extended spring training on June 5. He's been on the 60-day disabled list with an elbow injury. He hasn't pitched in a Major League game since May 10 of last season.

Right-hander Matt Harrison , meanwhile, is expected to make his third extended spring start on Saturday, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Harrison hasn't thrown a big league pitch since last May 13, as he is recovering from a back injury. If Harrison comes out of Saturday's start without any issue, he could head out on a minor-league rehab assignment in the near future.

Harrison was able to hit between 86-88 mph on his fastball, but maintained it throughout his appearance. Harrison, who is currently on the 60-day DL with a back injury, may make one more rehab start on Thursday, but feels strong enough to begin his rehab assignment, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Harrison is yet to pitch this season after posting a 1-1 record with a 4.15 ERA in 17 1/3 innings in 2014.

Rangers slugger Prince Fielder was a royal pain to the Yankees on Saturday. But then, so were a lot of hitters in a 15-4 shellacking.

Fielder was the chief tormenter, however. He singled twice and scored a run in the third, walked and scored in the sixth and slammed a two-run homer in the seventh.

His big game comes as no surprise given the season he is having and his recent tear. He has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games and is 5-for-9 with three home runs in the last two. He boasts a sensational slash line of .351/.404/.544.
