News
Although Rangers center fielder Leonys Martin continues to struggle offensively, manager Jeff Banister likes what he brings to the table defensively, which is why he remains in the starting lineup.

“Leonys takes runs off the board,” Banister said, per The Dallas Morning News. “I like premium defenders. They can impact the game with any ball hit to them. Where it becomes a challenge is when you don’t score runs. If you aren’t [scoring], I could see a lineup where you put all the bats possible in the lineup. If that puts a premium defender on the bench with the possibility of entering the game later to protect a lead, I could see that.”

News
Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's clash with the Orioles. Odor had started each of the last eight games for the Rangers, and has been on quite a roll.

In those eight games, Odor was batting .387 (12 for 31) with two home runs, three doubles and just three strikeouts with five walks. But he underwent a minor dental procedure on Wednesday, which is at least partially the cause for his absence from the lineup, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Hanser Alberto will get the start at second base on Wednesday.

Shortstop Elvis Andrus had a nice day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, but it wasn't enough to keep the Rangers from dropping a series to the Blue Jays.

Andrus got Texas on the board with his sixth-inning RBI single, and also added a double and stolen base, to continue a nice run in which he's hit in five of his last six games.

Andrus, who also had a three-hit game earlier in the week, has seen his average rise from .237 to .251 over the past 10 contests.

One day after returning from the disabled list, Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is out of the lineup on Wednesday against the Orioles. Hamilton played on Tuesday for the first time since landing on the DL in early June.

But he'll get the day off on Wednesday. No injury has been reported, so with a left-hander on the mound for the Orioles, it sounds like it could just be a day off for Hamilton. Ryan Rua is getting the start in left field and batting sixth on Wednesday.
