News
It has been a frustrating start to the season for Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg, who is 3-5 with a 6.50 ERA through his first nine starts.

His ERA has not been lower than 4.50 after a start this season, and manager Matt Williams pinpoints the right-hander's issues on not having a good feel for his fastball.

"The issue has been fastball command," Williams told MLB Network Radio on Wednesday. "The command hasn't been there. For all intents and purposes, he's healthy."

News
Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman's struggles continued on Wednesday. Zimmerman was held hitless for the third straight game, as the Nationals beat the Cubs 3-0.

Zimmerman hasn't scored a run since May 19. Over his last 10 contests, Zimmerman is hitting just .147 (5 for 35), though he does have a home run in that span. He has started every game for the Nationals this season, so a day off in the near future could do him well.

News
Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer dominated yet another game this season, throwing 13 strikeouts in Wednesday night's 3-0 win over the Cubs.

Scherzer's ERA is now down to 1.51. His record is now 6-3 for the year.

Scherzer's next start is projected for June 2 against the Blue Jays.

News
Nationals pitcher Tanner Roark allowed one run on three hits in five innings of work in Washington's 2-1 win over the Cubs on Monday.

Roark, starting for the injured Doug Fister, made just one mistake in his outing, allowing a solo home run to Kris Bryant in the first inning. Roark recorded three strikeouts and just one walk on the day.

"I'm not worried about strikeouts," Roark said per MLB.com. "I'm worried about getting outs, getting quick outs so we can get back in the dugout and swing the bats and get runs. That's all I worry about. That's my mentality."

Roark, now 1-2, moved his ERA to 2.49 in 25 1/3 innings of work. He may get a second straight start if Fister remains sidelined.

"With the exception of one slider to Bryant, he threw the ball exactly where he wanted to throw it today," Nationals manager Matt Williams said. "He really kept his pitch count down through five. He knows how to pitch. He knows how to get guys out.

Wrist - 15-day DL. Out until at least early August (Updated - 5/28/15)
News
Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth, who is on the disabled list with a wrist injury, had a CT scan on his left wrist. The results showed two small fractures. Werth, who has been on the 15-day DL since May 19, is likely out until at least August, a source told The Washington Post

Werth has only played in 27 games this season, after missing the first week with a shoulder injury.

Michael Taylor will likely continue to get the majority of the playing time in left field while Werth is out, though the team could look for help from outside the organization as well.
