Bucks, Brandon Knight still far apart in contract talks?
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11:30 am ET) It doesn't appear likely that the Bucks will reach an agreement with guard Brandon Knight, according to FOX Sports Wisconsin. Both sides have until the Oct. 31 deadline to reach a deal.

"I'm just focusing on basketball right now," Knight said. "If it happens, it happens. At the end of the day, I'm going to be here regardless. I'm just focusing on this year and focusing on our guys. That's the main thing for me right now."

Bucks' John Henson unsure of his role this season
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11:25 am ET) Bucks forward John Henson told reporters he's unsure of the role he'll have heading into the 2014-15 season under Jason Kidd, according to FOX Sports Wisconsin. Henson will likely be working behind Ersan Ilyasova at power forward, but could slide over and play center at times, depending on certain matchups.

"My rookie year was the same way -- I didn't know what I was going to be," Henson said. "I had no idea. I just have to come to play in training camp, and hopefully I'll be in a position to help the team."

Reggie Bullock, C.J. Wilcox cleared for training camp
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Both players missed summer league action due to injuries. Bullock was sidelined because of a knee injury, while Wilcox nursed a right shoulder injury in the offseason.

Mavericks not ready to name starting point guard
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11:07 am ET) Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is not ready to name a starter at point guard, according to ESPN Dallas. In fact, he's not concerned over the idea of splitting minutes between Devin Harris, Jameer Nelson and Raymond Felton.

"I get a lot of questions about the minutes crunch," Carlisle said. "I'm not worried about that. I just want good basketball players that want to win, and I think we have that."

Nets C Kevin Garnett taking an aggressive approach this season
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11:02 am ET) After a disappointing 2013-14 campaign where he averaged a career-low 6.5 points per game on 44.1 percent from the floor, Nets center Kevin Garnett told reporters he's ready to be more aggressive this season, according to the Record.

"This year, I'm coming in with a little more edge, a little more assertiveness," Garnett said, who is entering the final season of his contract. "Kind of [reverting] back to how I came into this league and what I've created for myself. I'm being a lot more aggressive."

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10:56 am ET) Contract talks have between the Kings and forward Rudy Gay have been put on hold, according to Cowbell Kingdom on Monday. Both sides engaged in talks before the FIBA World Cup and have until June 30 to come up with a deal, or else he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

"I'm letting my management handle that," Gay said. "I'm not going to be getting involved until it's nearing the end or both sides feel as though that that needs to happen. Then I make a decision."

Lakers' Kobe Bryant says he's ready for preseason opener
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10:47 am ET) Lakers guard Kobe Bryant said he has "no reason to think" he would not play in the team's preseason opener against the Nuggets on Oct. 6, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Bryant returned from Achilles surgery, but had his 2013-14 campaign cut short because of a fractured lateral tibial plateau. He averaged 13.8 points, 6.3 assists and 5.7 turnovers in six games.

Nikola Vucevic, Tobias Harris are part of team's future, Magic GM says
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10:40 am ET) Magic general manager Rob Hennigan told reporters on media day that he envisions center Nikola Vucevic and forward Tobias Harris as part of their future, according to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders.

"We don't envision a scenario where either of those players aren't with us moving forward," Hennigan said.

Vucevic appeared in 57 games last season, averaging a career-best 14.2 points per outing. He is expected to become a restricted free agent at the end of the 2014-15 season. The Magic are hoping to give Harris an extension before the start of this season. He averaged 14.6 points and 7.0 rebounds over 61 games in 2013-14.
