Pistons' Brandon Jennings sits in fourth quarter of opening loss
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:37 am ET) Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings did not play in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's 89-79 loss to the Nuggets in the team's regular-season opener.

"A little surprising," Jennings said after the game about sitting during the fourth quarter. "It never happened before in my career. It is what it is. I just have to push through it. I thought D.J. [Augustin] did a good job."

"You go with the guys you think give you the best chance to win," said coach Stan Van Gundy about sticking with Augustin.

Jennings ended up playing 20 minutes in the loss while scoring just four points on 2 of 4 shooting. He added four rebounds and two assists while turning the ball over three times. The Pistons will look to bounce back against the Timberwolves Thursday.

Nuggets SF Danilo Gallinari endures poor shooting night
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:33 am ET) Nuggets small forward Danilo Gallinari scored seven points on just 1 of 8 shooting while playing 18 minutes in his team's 89-79 win over the Pistons in Wednesday's regular-season opener.

"Physically, I feel good. There is no pain. I'm not scared. I'm ready to go," Gallinari said after the game, which was his first since suffering an ACL injury in April 2013. "I was a little rusty, but we all knew it. First game, you want to get the `W,' and go on to the next one."

Gallinari made just one of his five three-point attempts as well as all four free throws. He also chipped in three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in the win. The Nuggets move on to face the Thunder Saturday.

Nuggets F Kenneth Faried drops 22-17 line in opening win
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:29 am ET) Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried came up big Wednesday, scoring a team-high 22 points on 8 of 12 shooting and grabbing 17 rebounds in his team's 89-79 win over the Pistons in Wednesday's regular-season opener.

"He was huge for us right from the beginning of the game," coach Brian Shaw said after the game. "Aggressive, getting good position down low. Got their bigs in foul trouble. Once again it's a carryover from the way he played at the end of last season to the summer with the U.S. team, throughout training camp."

Faried played just 27 minutes while delivering his big line, adding four assists and turning the ball over three times. His 17 rebounds is a level matched just twice last season, with both big rebounding totals coming during his last four games of the regular season. The Nuggets' next test come Saturday against the Thunder.

Wizards G Glen Rice Jr. misses season opener Wednesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:15 am ET) Wizards guard Glen Rice Jr. was active for Wednesday's regular-season opener but did not play in his team's 107-95 loss to the Heat.

Rice has been dealing with an ankle issue and was a gametime decision for Wednesday's game. His next chance to take the court will come Thursday against the Magic.

Blazers F LaMarcus Aldridge scores team-high 27 in win
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:12 am ET) Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge scored a team-high 27 points on 10 of 19 shooting in his team's 106-89 win over the Thunder in Wednesday's regular-season opener.

Aldridge brought his scoring touch in the win but managed just three rebounds in 34 minutes, matching his lowest rebounding output in a game from last season. He also kicked in two assists, two blocks and one steal. The Blazers are set to face the Kings Friday.

Thunder PG Russell Westbrook scores 38 in opening loss
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:08 am ET) Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook scored a team-high 38 points on 11 of 26 shooting from the field and 15 of 16 shooting from the free-throw line in his team's 106-89 loss in Wednesday's regular-season opener.

With Kevin Durant on the sidelines, the offense predictably flowed through Westbrook, who made a full third of the team's field goals in the game. He recorded six assists, three rebounds and three steals while only turning the ball over twice in 33 minutes. The Thunder will look to bounce back Thursday in Los Angeles against the Clippers.

Kings C DeMarcus Cousins doubles up in opening loss
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1:03 am ET) Kings center DeMarcus Cousins scored a team-high 20 points on 4 of 14 shooting from the field and 12 of 18 shooting from the free-throw line while grabbing 11 rebounds in his team's 95-77 loss to the Warriors in Wednesday's regular-season opener.

Cousins is no stranger to double-doubles, having averaged 22.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game last season, but he sunk nearly 50 percent of his shots during his breakout campaign last year and had trouble finding the basket from the field Wednesday. He'll look for a better night Friday against the Blazers.

Warriors F Draymond Green notches double-double in opener
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:56 am ET) Warriors forward Draymond Green scored 12 points on 4 of 7 shooting while grabbing 10 rebounds in his team's 95-77 win over the Kings in Wednesday's regular-season opener.

Green played 34 minutes in the win and managed to turn the ball over five times while also recording three assists and a steal. He had just four double-doubles during the 2013-14 regular season but did record three more during his team's seven-game loss to the Clippers in the postseason. The Warriors will take on the Lakers Saturday.

Warriors PG Stephen Curry doubles up in opening win
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:53 am ET) Warriors point guard Stephen Curry scored a team-high 24 points on 7 of 17 shooting while grabbing 10 rebounds in his team's 95-77 win over the Kings in Wednesday's regular-season opener.

The Kings proved to be no match for the Warriors' defense, shooting just 30.8 percent from the field as a team. Curry racked up six steals during his 37 minutes of action while also dishing out six assists. The Warriors will square off with the Lakers Saturday.

Warriors G Shaun Livingston plays in opening win
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:50 am ET) Warriors guard Shaun Livingston managed to play four minutes in the team's 95-77 win over the Kings in Wednesday's regular-season opener.

Livingston said during the preseason that he was targeting the opener for his return from a toe injury after coach Steve Kerr said that he expected the guard to miss the first two weeks, and Livingston did in fact make it on to the court in the first game, though he didn't record any statistics aside from the four minutes of action. The Warriors will face the Lakers Saturday, and Livingston should have a bigger role in that game, provided he didn't encounter a setback in Wednesday's limited acton.
