Spurs G Patty Mills cleared for full practices

(2:02 pm ET) Spurs guard Patty Mills, who's yet to play this season due to a shoulder injury, has been cleared to practice fully, reports the San Antonio Express-News. Mills believes he'll beat the mid-January timetable for his return, the report said.

Mills averaged 10.2 points in 81 games last season while shooting 42.5 percent on 3-pointers.


Gregg Popovich: F Kawhi Leonard out indefinitely

(1:53 pm ET) Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said small forward Kawhi Leonard remains out indefinitely with a hand injury, reports the San Antonio Express-News. Popovich said Leonard could return in a day, two weeks or even longer.

Leonard won't play Thursday against the Thunder, the fifth straight game he'll miss. San Antonio visits New Orleans on Friday.


Rockets PG Patrick Beverley (illness) questionable for Friday

(12:04 pm ET) Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley is questionable for Friday's game at Memphis due to an illness, reports the Houston Chronicle. Beverley is averaging 12.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 15 games.

Knicks G Iman Shumpert (shoulder) gets up some shots

(11:56 am ET) Knicks guard Iman Shumpert, who dislocated his left shoulder nearly two weeks ago, did some shooting before Thursday's game against the Wizards, reports the New York Post. Shumpert is expected to return sometime in January.

He's averaged 9.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 24 games.


J.R. Smith to miss eighth straight game Thursday

(11:24 am ET) Shooting guard J.R. Smith (heel) will miss his eighth straight game Thursday when the Knicks host the Wizards. Smith was apparently close to suiting up, so there's a chance he plays Saturday at Sacramento.

(11:16 am ET) Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire, who's sat out two straight games to rest his sore knees, is in the starting lineup for Thursday's home game against the Wizards. He's averaging 13.4 points and 7.4 rebounds in 27 games.

New York is a 5-point underdog.

(10:28 am ET) Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire (knee soreness) and guard J.R. Smith (heel) will be gametime decisions Thursday against the Wizards, coach Derek Fisher told reporters. The game tips off at noon ET.

Stoudemire has sat out to rest the past two games, while Smith has missed seven in a row. The Wizards are 5-point favorites at Madison Square Garden.


Raptors assign F Bruno Caboclo to D-League

(9:55 am ET) The Raptors assigned forward Bruno Caboclo to Fort Wayne of the D-League, reports NBA.com. The Brazil native, who has played a total of 15 minutes in three games with Toronto, will remain on the Raptors' roster and be designated inactive.

His first game for Fort Wayne comes Saturday at Iowa.


Teams inquiring about Nuggets F Wilson Chandler

(9:48 am ET) A number of teams have inquired about the availability of Nuggets small forward Wilson Chandler, reports the Denver Post. The team wants to keep him and has told him so, but things could change if Denver decides to retool for the future.

Chandler is averaging 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds and is probably the Nuggets' best two-way player, the paper said. The 12-17 Nuggets host Minnesota on Friday.


Report: Rockets looking to clear roster spot for Smith via trade

(12/24/2014) The Rockets are shopping players from the bottom third of their roster Wednesday to clear a spot for small forward Josh Smith, ESPN reports.

Smith committed to joining the Rockets early Wednesday and passed through waivers later in the day, but now the team needs to make some room on the roster to bring him in. The candidates to move include Clint Capela, Isaiah Canaan, Tarik Black, Nick Johnson and Joey Dorsey.

Smith is expected to join the starting lineup once he's ready to roll. He averaged 13.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 steals in 28 game with the Pistons.
