According to the San Antonio Express-News, an MRI revealed a stress fracture in Ginobili's lower right fibula. The decision to sideline Ginobili was actually handed down from the team, with a message stating that he did not have their permission to compete.

Blake Griffin has a small fracture in his back
by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com
(11:28 am ET) Though it wasn't cited in his statement to the media, one of the reason's Blake Griffin will miss the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup relates to a small fracture in his back.

According to ESPN, the injury, which he sustained in the playoffs, isn't considered serious, but he and the Clippers would rather be safe than sorry. This makes sense considering Griffin injured his knee in 2012 during a Team USA practice prior to the Summer Olympics.

Griffin enjoyed a top-notch statistical season last year, averaging 24.1 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.

"He says he's ready to go," Krzyzewski said. "I'm excited about having him. He's very excited about being here."

Training camp begins Monday in preparation for the FIBA Basketball World Cup, which gets underway in August. Rose played in just 10 games before going down with yet another knee injury. He averaged 15.9 points and 4.3 assists per game in those 10 outings.

Groin issue keeps Jimmy Butler out Team USA camp
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(7/28/2014) Bulls forward Jimmy Butler will sit out Team USA's training camp in Las Vegas because of a slightly strained groin, the team announced on Sunday.

The Bulls will likely take a cautious approach with Butler and allow him to quickly recover in the offseason, likely leaving him out of the FIBA World Cup squad for Team USA.

The 24-year-old finished last season with averages of 13.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 67 games. He also made the All-Defensive Second Team and finished third amongst forwards with 1.9 steals per contest.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(7/25/2014) After being released by the Pelicans earlier in the week, forward Omri Casspi cleared waivers and is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Kings, according to ESPN on Friday. Lakers finally choose Byron Scott to coach
by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com
(7/25/2014) In an expected and long-awaited move, the Los Angeles Lakers offered coaching candidate Byron Scott a head coaching position. According to ESPN, the two sides began negotiating Friday, meaning Scott will soon be named head coach.

Scott spent his most recent coaching stint in Cleveland, where he led the Cavaliers to a 24-58 record two seasons ago. He'll now attempt to balance Kobe Bryant's playoff ambitions with the Lakers' inevitable rebuilding around rookie Julius Randle.
