Blatt: Kyrie Irving could return to Cavaliers on Sunday

(6:00 pm ET) Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving is missing Friday night's game, after an MRI revealed a shoulder strain. 

Prior to Friday's game, Cavs coach David Blatt told the media that Irving's MRI was clear enough that the team was holding out the possiblity of a return for Sunday's game at the Rockets. 


Report: Victor Claver signs with Russian team

(5:57 pm ET) Former Trail Blazers PF Victor Claver signed with a team in Russia. 

Claver was waived by the Nuggets after being acquired at the trade deadline last week. He signed with Khimki Moscow, replacing Joffrey Lauvergne, who was signed by the Nuggets, according to a report by Sportando.


LeBron James will sit out Friday for Cavaliers

(5:50 pm ET) LeBron James will not play for the Cavaliers, in Friday's game at the Pacers.

Head coach David Blatt told the media, "It was not his idea. It was mine." 

Although James was sore after his most-recent game, Blatt said the decision was not injury-related. It was to give James additional rest. "Just forward thinking on my part," he said

The Cavaliers are 3.5-point favorites on the road. 


Wizards' Kris Humphries, Paul Pierce out for Friday's game

(5:43 pm ET) Wizards forawards Kris Humphries and Paul Pierce will miss Friday's game against the 76ers, coach Randy Wittman said before the game.

Humphries was considered questionable for the contest after suffering a groin injury in Wednesday's game. He is averaging 8.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Pierce will miss his second consecutive game with a knee injury. He is averaging 12.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

The Wizards are currently 8-point favorites Friday.


Scott: Jeremy Lin could return to Lakers starting lineup soon

(4:43 pm ET) Lakers coach Byron Scott said guard Jeremy Lin could be making a return to the starting lineup within the next week.

Scott told InsideSoCal.com's Mark Medina that Lin could rejoin the starting lineup at shooting guard, with rookie Jordan Clarkson remaining at the point. 

Lin started at point guard for the first 20 games of the season, before Scott sent him to the bench. "He’s responded better off the bench," Scott said. 

Lin won't make his return to the starting lineup on Friday. Scott plans to start the same lineup as he has the past two games, with Lin coming off the bench. 


Kings center DeMarcus Cousins officially out for Friday

(4:22 pm ET) Kings center DeMarcus Cousins will miss Friday's game against the Spurs with an ankle injury, the team announced.

Cousins was considered doubtful for the game after missing practice Thursday with the injury. Cousins is averaging 23.7 points and 12.2 rebounds in 43 games this season. Reggie Evans will likely replace Cousins in the starting lineup.

The Kings are currently 5-point underdogs against the Spurs Friday.


Bucks to limit Michael Carter-Williams' minutes Friday

(4:03 pm ET) Bucks coach Jason Kidd wants to take it slow with new point guard Michael Carter-Williams. The second-year player made his first start Wednesday, playing 18 minutes and scoring seven points while dishing out eight assists.

Kidd said Carter-Williams will gradually see more playing time, but is not ready to play big minutes yet, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Carter-Williams missed six games before Wednesday, dealing with a foot injury. The Bucks are currently 4-point favorites against the Lakers Friday.


Cavs' Kyrie Irving dealing with shoulder strain, out for Friday's game

(3:40 pm ET) Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving suffered a left shoulder strain in Thursday's game and will not play in Friday's game because of it, an MRI revealed. 

Irving, who is averaging 21.7 points and 5.2 assists per game, will be re-evaluated before Sunday's game against the Rockets.

The Cavaliers are currently 6-point favorites against the Pacers.


Bucks' O.J. Mayo to miss Friday's game against the Lakers

(3:17 pm ET) Bucks guard O.J. Mayo will miss Friday's game against the Lakers with a right hamstring injury, coach Jason Kidd told reporters at shootaround.

Mayo, who is averaging 11.9 points and 2.8 assists per game, also missed Wednesday's game due to the injury. The Bucks are currently 4-point favorites.


Lakers coach Byron Scott : I don't envision Nick Young playing Friday

(3:05 pm ET) Lakers forward Nick Young is still considered questionable for Friday's game against the Bucks with a sore left knee, but coach Byron Scott said he doesn't think Young will play, according to the Orange County Register.

Young, who is averaging 13.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 42 games, missed Wednesday's game with the knee injury.

The Lakers are currently 4-point underdogs against Milwaukee.
