Rockets' Patrick Beverley, James Harden expected to start on Friday

(6:38 pm ET) Rockets coach Kevin McHale said that he believes both SG James Harden and PG Patrick Beverley will play on Friday. 

Harden was questionable with a sprained right ankle, and Beverley was questionable, suffering from flu-like symptoms.

Assuming neither has a setback before game time, McHale expects both Beverley and Harden to start. Harden isn't under any type of minutes restriction, but McHale will keep an eye on him and adjust his playing time if Harden appears to be in pain. 

The Rockets are seven-point favorites at home against the Nets. 


Evan Fournier a scratch for Magic on Friday

(6:27 pm ET) Magic SG Evan Fournier is inactive for Friday's game at the Hawks. The team announced that Fournier is struggling with a sore hip.

The Magic are 11.5-point underdogs on the road. 


Jose Calderon out for Knicks on Friday, getting MRI on Saturday

(6:24 pm ET) Knicks PG Jose Calderon will not play at the Pistons on Friday night. 

Calderon was originally listed as doubtful with an Achilles injury. 

Knicks coach Derek Fisher told the media that Calderon would get an MRI on the Achilles on Saturday. Depending on the results of the test, the team may sign a replacement player for its open roster spot. 

The Knicks are 13.5-point underdogs on the road, Friday. 


Bismack Biyombo out Friday for Hornets, may return Sunday

(6:15 pm ET) Hornets center Bismack Biyombo will miss his eleventh straight game with a bone bruise in his right knee. 

Coach Steve Clifford said that Biyombo would be inactive on Friday, at the Celtics. There's a chance he'll be able to return for Sunday's game at the Magic, however. 

The Hornets are two-point underdogs. 


Andre Iguodala sitting out for Warriors on Friday

(6:10 pm ET) Warriors F Andre Iguodala will sit out Friday's game at the Raptors. Head coach Steve Kerr told the media Iguodala was getting the night off for rest. 

The game in Toronto is the second game of a back-to-back and ends a stretch of three road games in four days for the Warriors.

The Warriors are two-point favorites on the road. 


Blatt: Kyrie Irving could return to Cavaliers on Sunday

(6:00 pm ET) Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving is missing Friday night's game, after an MRI revealed a shoulder strain. 

Prior to Friday's game, Cavs coach David Blatt told the media that Irving's MRI was clear enough that the team was holding out the possiblity of a return for Sunday's game at the Rockets. 


Report: Victor Claver signs with Russian team

(5:57 pm ET) Former Trail Blazers PF Victor Claver signed with a team in Russia. 

Claver was waived by the Nuggets after being acquired at the trade deadline last week. He signed with Khimki Moscow, replacing Joffrey Lauvergne, who was signed by the Nuggets, according to a report by Sportando.


LeBron James will sit out Friday for Cavaliers

(5:50 pm ET) LeBron James will not play for the Cavaliers, in Friday's game at the Pacers.

Head coach David Blatt told the media, "It was not his idea. It was mine." 

Although James was sore after his most-recent game, Blatt said the decision was not injury-related. It was to give James additional rest. "Just forward thinking on my part," he said

The Cavaliers are 3.5-point favorites on the road. 


Wizards' Kris Humphries, Paul Pierce out for Friday's game

(5:43 pm ET) Wizards forawards Kris Humphries and Paul Pierce will miss Friday's game against the 76ers, coach Randy Wittman said before the game.

Humphries was considered questionable for the contest after suffering a groin injury in Wednesday's game. He is averaging 8.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Pierce will miss his second consecutive game with a knee injury. He is averaging 12.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

The Wizards are currently 8-point favorites Friday.


Scott: Jeremy Lin could return to Lakers starting lineup soon

(4:43 pm ET) Lakers coach Byron Scott said guard Jeremy Lin could be making a return to the starting lineup within the next week.

Scott told InsideSoCal.com's Mark Medina that Lin could rejoin the starting lineup at shooting guard, with rookie Jordan Clarkson remaining at the point. 

Lin started at point guard for the first 20 games of the season, before Scott sent him to the bench. "He’s responded better off the bench," Scott said. 

Lin won't make his return to the starting lineup on Friday. Scott plans to start the same lineup as he has the past two games, with Lin coming off the bench.
