Heat SF Luol Deng dealing with deep thigh bruise
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) Heat small forward Luol Deng was treated for a deep thigh bruise after Wednesday's 100-94 win over the Lakers, ESPN.com reports.

Deng played 35 minutes in the win, scoring 15 points on 5 of 11 shooting but missing all four of his three-point attempts. He also hauled in six rebounds in the win. The team is off Thursday before facing the Wizards Friday.

Deng will likely be re-evaluated in the morning to check on whether he's dealing with extensive swelling in the thigh.

Pelicans' Alexis Ajinca posts double-double on Wednesday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) Pelicans center Alexis Ajinca posted a double-double on Wednesday against the Pistons.

Ajinca shot 5-10 from the field, finishing with 10 points. He was active on the boards, pulling down 11 rebounds. Nine of those came on the defensive side of the court. Ajinca added two assists and one block during the contest.

Following the game, Ajinca talked about his recent breakout. "I'm trying to bring anything I have to the team. Especially because first we had A.D. (Anthony Davis) and Ryan (Anderson) be out so I had to step up and play big time minutes, and I had to do some different (things)," he said. "It went well, so now I’m going to go and keep it this way and hopefully I will keep having some good minutes."

Jazz SG Rodney Hood feeling OK after rolling ankle
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) Jazz shooting guard Rodney Hood rolled his ankle in Wednesday's loss to the Celtics, leaving early in the fourth quarter, but said after the game that the ankle was feeling OK, the Deseret News reports.

Hood saw 22 minutes of action off the bench before exiting, scoring eight points on 4 of 7 shooting while grabbing one rebound. The 22 minutes represented his highest workload since the end of December.

The Jazz are set to face the 76ers Friday.

Hornets' Mo Williams posts 14-14 line in win vs. Nets
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) Hornets point guard Mo Williams scored 14 points on 6 of 13 shooting, including 2 of 6 shooting from the three-point line, while racking up a season-high 14 assists in his team's 115-91 win over the Nets Wednesday.

"I felt like the team that wanted it more was going to win the game," Williams said after the game, per the Associated Press. "It's just, the teams are so much evenly matched and I felt like for the most part we came out and we punched them in the mouth early and we took their punch back, and we regrouped and came out in the third quarter and kind of punched them again and they just didn't recover after that."

It was the third straight double-double for the point guard but his lowest scoring total since being traded to the Hornets. He also chipped in three rebounds in 31 minutes of action.

The Hornets take a three-game winning streak into Friday's matchup with the Raptors.

76ers' Isaiah Canaan scores career-high 31 vs. Thunder
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) 76ers point guard Isaiah Canaan scored a career-high 31 points on 10 of 16 shooting, including 8 of 13 shooting from three-point range, in his team's 123-118 overtime loss to the Thunder Wednesday.

On most other nights, Canaan's performance would have been the focus of the game, but the 76ers came up against Thunder guard Russell Westbrook, who posted a 49-16-10 line while becoming the first player since Michael Jordan in 1989 to record four straight triple-doubles. Canaan racked up seven rebounds, six assists and one steal in 42 minutes in the loss.

The 76ers will square off against the Jazz Friday.

Russell Westbrook first since Jordan with four straight triple-doubles
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook became the first player since Michael Jordan in 1989 to deliver four straight triple-doubles, scoring a career-high 49 points, grabbing a career-high 16 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists in his team's 123-118 overtime win over the 76ers Wednesday.

Westbrook missed his team's previous game after undergoing facial surgery and came back even stronger Wednesday, going 16 for 33 from the field and 16 for 20 from the free-throw line en route to arguably the best performance of his career. He's also delivered five 40-point performances in his last 13 games.

Westbrook also chipped in three steals and one block in 42 minutes of action Wednesday. The Thunder move on to face the Bulls Thursday.

Spurs SF Kawhi Leonard scores team-high 21 Wednesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard scored a team-high 21 points on 9 of 11 shooting, including 2 of 4 shooting from behind the arc, in his team's 112-85 win over the Kings Wednesday.

Leonard had one of the most efficient shooting performances of his career Wednesday but was only able to make one of his four free-throw attempts. He also recorded five rebounds, three steals, one assist and one block in 29 minutes.

The Spurs take a three-game winning streak into Friday's matchup with the Nuggets.

Wade: Whiteside 'very, very important' to Heat's success
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) Heat center Hassan Whiteside scored 18 points on 6 of 10 shooting while grabbing a career-high 25 rebounds in his team's 100-94 win over the Lakers Wednesday.

Whiteside has racked up 24 rebounds twice this season, including in Saturday's loss to the Hawks, but he managed to push his career-best total Wednesday while turning in his highest scoring total since Feb. 4. He also blocked four shots in the win, giving the center five straight games with multiple blocks.

"He’s what you call special," guard Dwyane Wade said after the game. "He’s so long, everything that gets off the rim he has it. He’s for real about what he does. He protects the basket and when he gets mad he’ll dunk on everybody. He’s very, very important to this team’s success."

The Heat are set to face the Wizards Friday.

Lakers' Ed Davis doubles up vs. Heat Wednesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) Lakers power forward Ed Davis scored 14 points on 7 of 10 shooting while racking up 12 rebounds in his team's 100-94 loss to the Heat Wednesday.

Davis was one of seven Lakers to score in double digits, including all four bench players who saw action, but his 14 shared the team lead in the close loss. The double-double was just the fifth of the season for Davis, who also chipped in three steals and one block in 28 minutes off the bench.

The Lakers bring a three-game losing streak into Friday's matchup with the Grizzlies.

Pelicans' Anthony Davis explodes for 39 points
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) Pelicans forward Anthony Davis exploded for 39 points on Wednesday against the Pistons.

Davis shot 17-30 from the field. He sunk five of his seven free throws, leading the way with 39 points. Davis was no slouch on the boards, coming up with 13 rebounds en route to a double-double. He also added eight blocks and three steals.

Davis returned from a shoulder injury, and said that wasn't an issue during the game. "It feels great. I don’t feel a thing," he said. "I’m just happy to be back on the floor. I told coach ‘Don’t take me out of the game.’ I had so much energy tonight. I loved being back on the floor with my teammates."
