Report: Omri Casspi finalizing one-year deal with Kings
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(7/25/2014) After being released by the Pelicans earlier in the week, forward Omri Casspi cleared waivers and is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Kings, according to ESPN on Friday. Casspi will be receiving the league minimum, according to the report. He averaged 6.9 points, 3.7 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 18.1 minutes last season for the Rockets.

Lakers finally choose Byron Scott to coach
by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com
(7/25/2014) In an expected and long-awaited move, the Los Angeles Lakers offered coaching candidate Byron Scott a head coaching position. According to ESPN, the two sides began negotiating Friday, meaning Scott will soon be named head coach.

Scott spent his most recent coaching stint in Cleveland, where he led the Cavaliers to a 24-58 record two seasons ago. He'll now attempt to balance Kobe Bryant's playoff ambitions with the Lakers' inevitable rebuilding around rookie Julius Randle.

Shelvin Mack inks three-year deal with Hawks
by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com
(7/25/2014) The Atlanta Hawks have re-signed guard Shelvin Mack to a three-year, $7.3 million contract. Mack announced the news on Twitter late Friday.

Mack was useful in what limited opportunities he was afforded last season in Atlanta. Per 36 minutes he averaged 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. Unfortunately, he only logged 30-plus minutes six times in 73 games.

Bulls add Aaron Brooks on one-year deal
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(7/25/2014) The Bulls officially announced the signing of free agent guard Aaron Brooks Tuesday, to a one-year deal. The deal will pay Brooks just $915,243 for the 2014-15 season.

Brooks appeared in 72 games with the Rockets and Nuggets last season, averaging 9.0 points an 3.2 assists per game. He will likely serve as the team's third-string point guard.

Bucks grab Kendall Marshall off waivers from Lakers
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(7/25/2014) The Bucks were awarded guard Kendall Marshall off waivers, after he was released by the Lakers.

Marshall emerged as a key part of the Lakers' rotation last year, averaging 29.0 minutes per game in 54 appearances. He averaged 8.0 points per game and would have finished third in the league with 8.8 assists per game had he qualified for the leaderboard. Marshall might end up starting for the Bucks at point guard.

Rashard Lewis has contract voided, will require surgery
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(7/25/2014) The Mavericks voided forward Rashard Lewis's contract Thursday, after he failed a physical due to an issue with his right knee.

At this point, it is not clear how serious the injury is, but Lewis will require surgery, the team announced. The 34-year-old was expected to sign a one-year deal with the Mavericks, but his next move is not yet known.

Jameer Nelson finalize two-year contract with Mavs
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(7/24/2014) The Mavericks and free agent point guard Jameer Nelson have finalized a two-year, $6 million deal with Dallas, ESPN reports. Nelson will make roughly $2.7 million his first season and $2.8 million his next season, which will be a player option year. Nelson had a productive year in Orlando last season, averaging 12.1 points and 7.0 assists per game.

Cavs sign Andrew Wiggins, can't trade him for 30 days
by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com
(7/24/2014) Amid constant speculation about the Cavaliers possibly sending their No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins to Minnesota in a deal for Kevin Love, Cleveland will have to wait at least 30 days to do so. The team announced Thursday that it had inked Wiggins to a rookie deal that starts at a $5.5 million annual salary.

Wiggins looked good in Summer League, averaging 15.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in four games at Las Vegas.

Report: Jameer Nelson nearing a deal with Dallas
by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com
(7/23/2014) Free agent point guard Jameer Nelson looks to be headed to Dallas. According to ESPN sources, the Mavericks will ink Nelson to a $2.7 million-contract.

Nelson was waived by Orlando after the Magic traded for rookie point guard Elfrid Payton on draft night. Nelson had a productive year in Orlando last season, averaging 12.1 points and 7.0 assists per game.

Report: Bulls offer three players for Kevin Love
by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com
(7/23/2014) A rumor surfaced early Wednesday that indicated the Chicago Bulls would be willing to give up three players to obtain forward Kevin Love. According to SheridanHoops.com, Chicago has offered the Timberwolves bench stud Taj Gibson, first-round pick Doug McDermott and recently signed Spanish star Nikola Mirotic for Love.

It's been speculated that rumors including Chicago are merely smokescreens to coax the Cavaliers into adding more to their reported offer. The report suggests that should Cleveland sweeten the deal by including a second future first rounder in addition to Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and the initial future first round pick, that Cleveland would have a better chance of stealing Love away from the Bulls.

The Timberwolves would be wise to do everything in their power to speed up this process, considering Love is set to become a free agent next season and has already said that he will test the market.
