Cavaliers forward LeBron James alters free-throw approach
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(12:59 pm ET) Cavaliers forward LeBron James has made a subtle adjustment during his free-throw attempts, reports Cleveland.com.

When asked if he changed his approach, James said he was trying something new out. James' new approach involves slightly pausing as he brings the ball up to his shooting motion. The change is meant to slow down his shooting mechanics while at the free-throw line.

"I'm a guy that doesn't mind being coached," James said. "I'm coachable. If someone sees something and they think it could help me, I don't mind looking into it. Even at this stage in my career."

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com

Blazers' Aldridge ditches thumb brace during Wednesday's game
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(12:07 pm ET) As Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge was struggling with his shot during Wednesday's game, the frustration of his shooting woes caused Aldridge to ditch his thumb brace on his left hand, reports The Oregonian.

"I got pissed in the fourth and just threw it off," Aldridge said of his thumb brace. "[The medical staff wasn't] happy with that. I can't play without it, but I was just shooting the ball so bad. I was just trying to do anything to find a rhythm."

After ditching the brace, Aldridge shot 4 of 9 from the field and finished with 29 points. He is expected to wear the brace during Thursday’s game against the Mavericks.

Suns forward T.J. Warren starting to earn more playing time
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(11:55 am ET) Suns forward T.J. Warren has seen his minutes increase over the last three games, which coach Jeff Hornacek attributed to Warren's energy, reports The Arizona Republic.

"We all know he can put the ball in the basket, but what it is with him is he's probably our only guy who cuts," Hornacek said. "Everyone else wants to stand around and wait for a kick out pass. T.J. is a guy who, when he sees an opening or his man turns his head, he'll cut. When he does cut, he has good hands to snag it and still finish."

Warren played the entire fourth quarter during Monday's contest against the Heat, which he said was surprising, but the more opportunities he receives, the better player he'll become.

"I was ready to play, but it was unexpected," Warren said. "I guess he's looking for a spark and me building confidence and getting more experience. The more I play, the more I learn from mistakes. It's hard from the side so being out there is helping me."

LeBron on Valanciunas' flagrant foul: I've got to 'protect myself' more
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10:33 am ET) When asked if the Cavaliers should have retaliated after a hard foul he suffered by Raptors big man Jonas Valanciunas, LeBron James seemed open to the idea in order to "curb opponents' behavior" moving forward, according to the Northeast Ohio Media Group.

"Maybe I've got to protect myself a little more too," James said after Wednesday's 120-112 victory over Toronto.

James was taken down by the neck by Valanciunas on his way to the rim with 18.8 seconds remaining in the third quarter of Cleveland's win. Valanciunas, who was assessed with a Flagrant One foul, reached over to help James back up from the floor, but the Cavaliers star swatted his arm away, refusing help from the opponent.

"Obviously (Valanciunas) was trying to send a message because he had been getting beat all day on the pick-and-roll, and it happens, but it's just bull(crap) and it ain't cool," James' new teammate Kendrick Perkins said after the game.
