by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11:07 am ET) Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is not ready to name a starter at point guard, according to ESPN Dallas. In fact, he's not concerned over the idea of splitting minutes between Devin Harris, Jameer Nelson and Raymond Felton.

"I get a lot of questions about the minutes crunch," Carlisle said. "I'm not worried about that. I just want good basketball players that want to win, and I think we have that."

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11:02 am ET) After a disappointing 2013-14 campaign where he averaged a career-low 6.5 points per game on 44.1 percent from the floor, Nets center Kevin Garnett told reporters he's ready to be more aggressive this season, according to the Record.

"This year, I'm coming in with a little more edge, a little more assertiveness," Garnett said, who is entering the final season of his contract. "Kind of [reverting] back to how I came into this league and what I've created for myself. I'm being a lot more aggressive."

"I'm letting my management handle that," Gay said. "I'm not going to be getting involved until it's nearing the end or both sides feel as though that that needs to happen. Then I make a decision."

Lakers' Kobe Bryant says he's ready for preseason opener
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10:47 am ET) Lakers guard Kobe Bryant said he has "no reason to think" he would not play in the team's preseason opener against the Nuggets on Oct. 6, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Bryant returned from Achilles surgery, but had his 2013-14 campaign cut short because of a fractured lateral tibial plateau. He averaged 13.8 points, 6.3 assists and 5.7 turnovers in six games.

Nikola Vucevic, Tobias Harris are part of team's future, Magic GM says
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10:40 am ET) Magic general manager Rob Hennigan told reporters on media day that he envisions center Nikola Vucevic and forward Tobias Harris as part of their future, according to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders.

"We don't envision a scenario where either of those players aren't with us moving forward," Hennigan said.

Vucevic appeared in 57 games last season, averaging a career-best 14.2 points per outing. He is expected to become a restricted free agent at the end of the 2014-15 season. The Magic are hoping to give Harris an extension before the start of this season. He averaged 14.6 points and 7.0 rebounds over 61 games in 2013-14.

Nuggets' Nate Robinson would like to stay put in Denver
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10:29 am ET) Nate Robinson told the Denver Post on Monday that he would like to finish out his career with the Nuggets. Robinson, who suffered a torn ACL in January, is entering the final year of his two-year, $4.1 million contract. He averaged 10.4 points, 2.5 assists and 1.8 rebounds over 44 games before the injury last season.

"I'm too old to be moving around too much more," Robinson said. "I don't know if I have too many more years doing that. For me, I would love to stay here. I've taken a liking to Denver, it's been fun. The city is great, the fans are great and this team is awesome. I would love to be here if they would love to have me."

Nuggets not ready to name starting center
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Knicks F Amar'e Stoudemire wants to play 30 minutes per night
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/29/2014) Knicks power forward Amar'e Stoudemire remains confident he can play at least 30 minutes per outing this season, ESPN New York reports.

Stoudemire was limited to 65 games (21 starts) and averaged 22.6 minutes per game last season. Over his final 20 games, he logged 28.4 minutes, averaging 16.1 points and 6.2 boards while shooting 57.4 percent from the field. However, head coach Derek Fisher already indicated last week that he'll rest Stoudemire when needed in order to help keep him healthy for the entire season.

"I think toward the end of the year last year we got it to a 30-minute-a-night, 35-minute-a-night type deal," Stoudemire said. "So I'm sure after I sit down with the coaches we'll pick out something that's going to be beneficial to both of us.
