Celtics PG Marcus Smart surprised by team's draft picks

(5:22 pm ET) Celtics second-year point guard Marcus Smart has admitted that he was surprised the organization drafted two guards with their two first-round picks in last month's draft, per ESPN.com.

The Celtics drafted guards Terry Rozier and R.J. Hunter in the first round. 

"At first I was just like, ‘Wow, another guard,’" Smart said, per ESPN.com. 

Smart averaged 7.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game last season.


Report: DeAndre Jordan on verge of accepting deal with Mavs

(3:51 pm ET) Free-agent center DeAndre Jordan is on the verge of accepting a four-year, $80 million-plus maximum contract from the Mavericks, sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

Jordan -- one of the prized free agents of this offseason -- was rumored to be deciding between his former team, the Clippers, and the Mavericks.

Jordan averaged 11.5 points and 15 rebounds for the Clippers last season.


Kings show interest in free-agent PG Patrick Beverly

(3:43 pm ET) The Kings are showing interest in free-agent point guard Patrick Beverley, according to Basketballinsiders.com.

Beverley, who ahs received interest from the Knicks, averaged 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game last season for the Rockets.


Report: SG Gary Neal, Wizards agree on one-year deal

(3:27 pm ET) The Wizards and free-agent shooting guard Gary Neal have agreed on a one-year, $2.1 million deal, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Neal will serve as a shooter on the Wizards after they lost veteran Paul Pierce to the Clippers earlier this week. He averaged 10.1 points per game in 51 games for the Hornets and Timberwolves.


Blazers didn't make offer to free agent Wesley Matthews

(3:06 pm ET) The Trail Blazers didn't make an offer to free-agent guard Wesley Matthews, per The Oregonian.

Matthews, who agreed to a four-year deal with the Mavericks, played 60 games for the Blazers last season, averaging 15.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

The Blazers could potentially lose four starters from last season's team, with Nicolas Batum, Robin Lopez, LaMarcus Aldridge and Matthews all potentially joining new teams this offseason.


Marco Bellineli agrees to three-year, $19 million deal with Kings

(2:45 pm ET) Free-agent shooting guard Marco Belinelli had agreed to a three-year, $19 million deal with the Kings, per ESPN.com.

Bellineli, who averaged 9.2 points per game last season, expressed desire to stay with the Spurs, but ultimately chose the Kings and a contract that would have been difficult for San Antonio to match.


Report: Robin Lopez, Knicks agree on four-year, $54 million deal

(2:10 pm ET) The Knicks and free-agent center Robin Lopez have agreed on a four-year, $54 million deal, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Lopez and the Knicks had previously agreed to join forces, but the franchise was still holding out hope that DeAndre Jordan might choose them in free agency. It became clear on Friday that Jordan would not, so the two sides proceeded to finalize a deal.

Lopez averaged 9.6 points and 6.7 rebounds for the Trail Blazers last season.


Heat rookie Justise Winslow to play shooting guard, small forward

(1:55 pm ET) Heat rookie Justise Winslow said he will play exclusively out of the shooting guard and small forward positions during the NBA Summer League, per the Sun Sentinel.

The Heat took Winslow with the 10th pick in this year's draft.


Heat G Tyler Johnson will play point guard during summer league

(1:52 pm ET) Tyler Johnson will concentrate on playing point guard for the Heat during the NBA Summer League, the Miami Herald is reporting.

Johnson's transition to point guard could make second-year player Shabazz Napier the odd man out in the backcourt for the Heat.

Johnson averaged 5.9 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in 32 games for the Heat last season.


Report: Wizards shopping F Nene

(1:49 pm ET) The Wizards are shopping forward Nene in hopes to create more cap space to use during this free agency, sources are telling ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

The Wizards are pursuing free-agent big man David West, which would make Nene expendable.
