by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8:46 pm ET) Timberwolves guard J.J. Barea was a late scratch from Wednesday's season finale against the Jazz due to back spasms, an injury that has bugged him over the last week or so.

Barea finishes the season averaging 8.4 points and 3.8 assists in 79 games, his worst per-game totals since 2009-10.

Josh Smith sitting out fifth and final game
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8:05 pm ET) Pistons forward Josh Smith is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Thunder, the final game of the season. Smith ended up missing the last five games of the season due to tendinitis in his knee, after appearing in each of the season's first 77.

Smith struggles through a disastrous first season as a Piston, averaging 16.4 points per game but shooting just 41.9 percent from the field and 26.4 percent from three-point range. He added 6.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.4 blocks and steals in 35.5 minutes per game.

Nikola Pekovic sits out finale
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(7:56 pm ET) Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic missed his ninth and final game in a row Wednesday against the Jazz, as his ankle injury ended up ending his season.

Pekovic missed the final nine and 14 of the last 17 games of the season as a result of the injury, and a career-high 28 games overall. He put together one of his most productive seasons when healthy, averaging a career-high 17.4 points and adding 8.7 rebounds per game.

Greg Oden expected back Wednesday
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(7:35 pm ET) Heat center Greg Oden is available to play Wednesday against the 76ers, after missing the team's previous 11 games due to back spasms. He will likely play limited minutes off the bench, in an attempt to get back to playing shape before the start of the playoffs.

Kenyon Martin will need offseason surgery
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(7:24 pm ET) Knicks forward Kenyon Martin put off surgery to remove bone spurs in his ankle in the hopes that he would be able to contribute to a playoff run, he told reporters Wednesday. With the season ending and the Knicks not heading to the postseason, he will undergo a procedure to clean up his ankle in the offseason.

Martin did not play in the team's final 35 games, and he finished the season averaging just 4.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in 32 games.

Lamar Odom signs with Knicks before finale
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(7:15 pm ET) The Knicks officially announced the signing of forward Lamar Odom Wednesday, just hours before the season finale. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is expected to give the team the option of bringing Odom back next season if they choose.
