Heat's Hassan Whiteside scores 20 in win over the Celtics

(3:57 pm ET) Heat center Hassan Whiteside displayed some nifty offensive moves to help lead the Heat to a 83-75 victory over the Celtics on Sunday.

Whiteside scored 20 points on 10 of 17 shooting from the field, which was a game high. He also added nine rebounds and three blocks. Whiteside briefly left the game in the third after cutting his lip on an elbow from Celtics center Tyler Zeller, but he was able to finish the game.

"I love to see the young guys respond," coach Erik Spoelsta said, per the team. "They were fearless today."


Celtics' Tayshaun Prince held out of Sunday's game with hip injury

(3:47 pm ET) Celtics forward Tayshaun Prince was unable to play in Sunday's game against the Heat after suffering a hip flexor injury just before the game, coach Brad Stevens said postgame.

Prince sustained the injury during a workout before the game and notified Stevens before tipoff he was a no-go. It is unknown if Prince will be able to play in Boston's next game Tuesday against the Knicks.


Report: Pistons to sign John Lucas to 10-day contract

(3:15 pm ET) Hoping to lessen the loss of guard Brandon Jennings, the Pistons are on the verge of signing guard John Lucas to a 10-day contract, sources told ESPN.

Lucas has not played in the NBA this season.


Report: Grizzlies to sign JaMychal Green instead of Tyler Thomas

(3:03 pm ET) The Grizzlies will not sign forward Tyrus Thomas to another 10-day contract and will instead opt to sign forward JaMychal Green to a 10-day contract, reports The Commercial Appeal.

Green played in four games for the Spurs this season and averaged 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds.


Celtics' Avery Bradley sprains thumb against Heat on Sunday

Bradley did return to the game.


Lakers' Jordan Hill leaves Sunday's game with quad injury

(2:42 pm ET) Lakers forward Jordan Hill was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Knicks with a strained right quad and he will not return, reports the team's official website.

The Lakers next play Wednesday at Milwaukee.


Maigc forward Aaron Gordon starting to see larger role

(2:39 pm ET) Magic rookie forward Aaron Gordon is starting to see more time on the court in Orlando.

"It feels great," Gordon said. "We were down a lot, and we showed a lot of resiliency. It was definitely a game that we could've won. But that's how basketball goes. It's a game of runs, and our run stopped a little short."

Gordon played 30 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Mavericks, the most of any game in his career. He scored 11 points on 3 of 8 shooting and grabbed five rebounds for the Magic.

"I think overall his body has responded well to the minutes," coach Jacque Vaughn said. "Aaron's just competed. He's tried to do the right thing."


Pelicans' Anthony Davis listed as probable for Monday's game

(2:38 pm ET) The Pelicans announced center Anthony Davis is listed as probable for Monday's game against the Hawks.

Davis is dealing with a left abductor strain, which caused him to miss Friday's win over the Clippers. He was able to practice Sunday for the first time since suffering the injury, reports The Times-Piscayune. Coach Monty Williams said Anthony will be evaluated Monday to determine his playing status.


Heat's Hassan Whiteside suffers bloody lip Sunday vs. Celtics

(2:33 pm ET) Heat center Hassan Whiteside suffered a cut lip after taking an elbow to the face from Celtcis center Tyler Zeller during the third quarter of Sunday's game.

Whiteside had to head to the locker room, but the Heat announced Whiteside will return to the game.


Bulls forward Mike Dunleavy targeting Wednesday for return

(1:40 pm ET) Bulls forward Mike Dunleavy admitted he's been frustrated dealing with his foot injury and is anxious to return, reports NBA.com.

Dunleavy has been out since Jan. 1 while dealing with a foot injury and is hoping to play in Wednesday's game at Houston.

"I'm just keeping my fingers crossed next week goes well," Dunleavy said. “[That] I have a couple of good days of practice and can play on Wednesday."
