Promising trio have options picked up by 76ers
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:02 am ET) The 76ers have picked up the options on standouts Michael Carter-Williams, Nerlens Noel and Tony Wroten, per the Philadelphia Inquirer. All three will remain in the fold through next season.

The threesome have shown potential either at the college or NBA levels. Carter-Williams last year became only the second NBA rookie to lead all first-year players in scoring, assists and rebounds. Noel, still a prized rookie after sitting out last year while nursing a knee injury, debuted Wednesday with six points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. Wroten averaged 17.8 points and 5.1 assists in 17 games for Philadelphia a season ago.

Report: Thunder PG Russell Westbrook to miss 4-6 weeks
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:49 am ET) Early indications are that Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook will miss four to six weeks with a fractured rigtht hand, according to The Oklahoman. That could keep him sidelined through mid-December.

The latest setback for Oklahoma City comes on the heels of injuries to superstar Kevin Durant, as well as several other players.

The severity of the Westbrook injury and possible timetable for his return will become clearer after he undergoes further tests Friday.

Thunder PG Russell Westbrook has small fracture in right hand
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1:47 am ET) Thunder coach Scott Brooks told reporters that point guard Russell Westbrook suffered a small fracture in his right hand, according to Kevin Arnovitz of ESPN.

Westbrook's right hand landed awkwardly on Kendrick Perkins' thigh while battling for a rebound in the second quarter. He left the game a few plays later with the injury and did not return.

This comes as a huge blow for the Thunder, who are already without Kevin Durant for the start of the season due to a broken foot. The injury could keep him out for several weeks, depending on the severity of the fracture. Brooks did not provide a timetable for recovery and Westbrook was not made available to reporters after the game for further comments.

Timberwolves' Andrew Wiggins scores eight in home debut
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1:23 am ET) Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins made his home debut Thursday night, as he contributed with eight points in his team's 97-91 victory over the Pistons.

The No. 1 overall pick, who was traded from Cleveland to Minnesota in exchange for Kevin Love, bounced back from a rough first half and erupted for all eight of his points and grabbed three rebounds to give his team a 10-point lead entering the fourth quarter.

He shot 4 of 9 from the field and missed all three of his attempts from the charity stripe. He added four rebounds, one assist and one steal while logging 24 minutes of game action.

"He had a stretch where he showed what the future is a little bit with his ability to go and take over games," coach Flip Saunders said, via the team's official website. "I was hesitant to put him back in with six minutes to go. We went with our veterans and I think if we would have lost I would have been kicking myself wondering why I didn't put him back in."

Mavericks G J.J. Barea makes Dallas debut
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1:07 am ET) Mavericks guard J.J. Barea made his debut with his new club Thursday night against the Jazz. Barea logged 19 minutes off the bench and finished with four points on 2 of 5 shooting from the field. He added four rebounds and three assists in a 120-102 victory.

Coach Rick Carlisle was impressed with how quickly Barea picked up the offense.

"I thought he played well for a guy who just basically showed up today. He is familiar with out system, so he will fit in. He is in good shape -- had a great summer playing in the FIBA World Championships," Carlisle said, via MavsOutsider.com. "We're fortunate to get him back. And with this roster, we have so many guys who can contribute and we are uncertain when everybody is going to play. But, he certainly showed tonight that he is a guy that is ready to go."
