by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer

Conley left Saturday's game and did not return after getting hit by an inadvertent elbow from the Trail Blazers' CJ McCollum during the third quarter. Beno Udrih will start for Memphis in Conley's place.

It remains unclear how much time Conley would miss after the surgery. If the Grizzlies advance to the Western Conference semifinals, they would play the Golden State Warriors.

Grizzlies' Mike Conley (face) out for Game 4, to undergo more evaluation
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(5:04 pm ET) Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley (face) is out for Monday's Game 4 in Portland and will now return to Memphis for further evaluation of the facial injury he suffered Saturday during Game 3's victory, the team has announced.

Conley left Saturday's game and did not return after getting hit by an inadvertent elbow from the Trail Blazers' CJ McCollum during the third quarter.

"He's in good spirits," Grizzlies center Marc Gasol said.

"He came in, shook everybody's hand, said a little something to everybody individually," added Grizzlies guard Courtney Lee.

Backup point guard Beno Udrih, who sat out Game 3 with an ankle injury, will play Monday and should see extended minutes as a result of Conley's unavailability.

"He's got the biggest heart," Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger said of Conley. "He's the purest-hearted guy, he's a true leader, he's a winner, will do whatever's asked of him, and what isn't asked he looks for to help the team win. It's a big blow."
