by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(1:46 pm ET) Celtics power forward Jared Sullinger is taking a more hands on approach to the offense this season. According to Sullinger, coach Brad Stevens has asked him to take more shots off of different actions since the team made their numerous trades.

"We're trying to put him in more spots," Stevens said. "We're trying to get him to score it on the block, facing up and on the perimeter."

So far this month, Sullinger is averaging 15.2 points with 8.5 rebounds in 16 games. For the season, he leads the team in both points and rebounds per game with 14.1 points and 8.1 boards.

Spurs' Tony Parker fighting off mental battle with hamstring injury
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(10:47 am ET) Spurs point guard Tony Parker is still dealing with the lingering affects of a hamstring injury, which kept him out of action for nearly a month.

"I think it’s almost a mind thing," Parker said. "There’s not really pain. It’s just weird. I’m trying to stay positive and not think about it. I’m joking with the coaches, like, 'Stop asking me about it.'"

Parker, who is averaging 14.5 points and 4.7 assists in 33 games, is hoping to be able to shake off the injury and round back into form.

"I’m still trying to work through it," Parker said. "I’m trying to put it behind me and get my game back."

Coach Gregg Popovich said he thinks Parker is worried about conditioning instead of the leg injury.

"He’s a confident player," Popovich said. "I don’t think he’s thinking about his leg. I think he’s thinking more about getting more minutes and getting into shape and playing."

Knicks sign Lance Thomas for remainder of season
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com

Carmelo, Kobe discussed teaming up during offseason in L.A.
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(9:50 am ET) Knicks small forward Carmelo Anthony was considering joining the Lakers and Kobe Bryant this past offseason when he was a free agent, according to the New York Post.

"They came in at the 25th hour, they swooped in there," said Anthony, who owns an apartment in Los Angeles. "It was a great visit. The conversations I had with Kobe was just man to man. We both had to come to reality and say, 'Is this what we really want?' And it didn’t happen."

The Lakers were reportedly never interested in pairing the two superstars in Los Angeles, according to the report.

"We’ve been talking for a long time, man, especially this summer, just me and him communicating, and talking and being honest with one another as friends and brothers should be. It was a lot going on there on his behalf and my behalf trying to figure everything out," Anthony said.

Anthony, who is averaging 24.1 points and 6.6 rebounds in 36 games this season, also thinks Kobe will be back in 2015.

"I know him, and this is not the way he wants to go out." Anthony said. "I’m pretty sure he’ll do whatever he has to do to get back on the court one more time before he hangs them shoes up."
